Is this name too weird?

Bligh. I saw it after watching the programme MutinyI love it, but worried it's too strange.

Also would it be even stranger to use it for a girl when it is a boys (though very uncommon) name? Or should i just forget it all together?

Id probably go for Blyth instead for a girl.

Bligh just sounds like blight to me and blight isn't exactly a positive word. What about Blythe?

I saw that and thought it was a great name, but probably really only works because of their connection to the name.

Or Fletcher. Is Fletcher Christian in Mutiny? Assuming Mutiny is the same as Mutiny on the Bounty.

I saw that Any had named his son this and really liked it but I'm not sure if I liked it more because of the story behind it

Could you spell it Bly to counteract anyone saying it looks like Blight? It's definitely a way of spelling the surname as I had a friend with that surname.

Sorry op, I thought it was a typo. I'm female and I would not wish to be named it, I'd envisage a lifetime of mispronounciations and spelling it for people. I like feminine names, or strong names, maybe even classic names, but this is a kind of nothing name....

Sorry but it's a no from me. It looks like a spelling mistake. . However I'm a big believer in parents choosing what they want (within reason) and people would soon get used to it.

It's definitely not awful though and I love the Bounty reference.

I honestly don't love the name. But it's certainly not awful either. I think it's growing on me. I currently think it's quite cute. I may adore it in an hour or something
