Hi all,

What do you think of the name Mars/Marz? I know it isn't very common so I'm not sure what others think of it. How do you think it should be spelt?

Thanks

No.

They may try to be the first to walk on Mars, too.

Shockers · 25/03/2017 11:33

Hmm, I'm not sure. Have you considered Balonz for that finishing with a z vibe?

portico · 25/03/2017 11:33

To the OP, try Marseille. It's more whacko.

cowgirlsareforever · 25/03/2017 11:34

No.

originalbiglymavis · 25/03/2017 11:34

Pluto is far better.

Universitychallenging · 25/03/2017 11:34

It's a chocolate bar.

originalbiglymavis · 25/03/2017 11:36

No it's a planet! What about its moons for names - Phobos (fear) or Deimos (panic).

Blumkin · 25/03/2017 11:38

No, not a fan. The only worse planet option would be Uranus, or Uranuz

originalbiglymavis · 25/03/2017 11:40

Your a what?

portico · 25/03/2017 11:40

How about naming him Mercury. Not after the Roman God Mercurius. Moreso, named after the God of Thermometers.

maya7161 · 25/03/2017 11:41

Oh wow, guess it isn't very popular then. Thanks for the feedback everyone. This isn't actually for a baby but someone who has already been named 'Marouf' (different culture). He doesn't like his name much (I think it's quite cool) and is asking me what I think of Mars as a nickname. He doesn't want a nickname that just seems overly unrelated to his actual name.

You could base it on an unsolved Countdown conundrum word.

portico · 25/03/2017 11:42

How about M

portico · 25/03/2017 11:43

Or Em

PacificDogwod · 25/03/2017 11:44

Ah well, that puts a different slant on it, doesn't it?

He's an adult (I presume), he can call himself anything he likes.

maya7161 · 25/03/2017 11:45

Yep he's an adult

I was at school with a girl name Marsali, and we all called her Mars, if that helps...

munchkinmaster · 25/03/2017 11:46

I prefer Ballonz

Logolphin · 25/03/2017 11:48

How about Lion instead?

Logolphin · 25/03/2017 11:48

Or Thor?

PenelopeFlintstone · 25/03/2017 11:56

But nicknames are different! They are often silly or unusual, so now it doesn't seem so bad.

maya7161 · 25/03/2017 12:15

Interesting! I've never had a nickname / called anyone by any kind of nickname. Would you say it's okay as a business/work name? He works in finance and needs to keep things professional.

originalbiglymavis · 25/03/2017 12:40

I get called by my nickname mostly.
