Female version or Darryl?

Hi I am expecting a baby girl and was in the early stages of pregnancy when my partner passed away in a RTA, we had picked both a girl and boys name which I am sticking with but I was debating putting her daddy's name as a middle name (if i could find one that went - if not she still has the name we chose together ) but not sure what female versions of Darryl that there is.

Any suggestions? Thank you

Darryl Hannah is a well known female actress so I think it's quite neutral.

Firstly, I'm so sorry for your tragic loss. 💐
There is an American actress called Darryl Hannah, so you could use her Daddy's name.
Other similar names ;
Darlene
Darelle

So sorry for your lossFlowers

Darrell Rivers was the main character in Mallory Towers ( my favourite books as a child) and she was a girl. Darryl would be a lovely tribute.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

Darryl has had some use as a girls name (like Daryl Hannah and the character Darrell from Mallory Towers), so it might be nice to give her Darryl as a middle name.

JennyHolzersGhost · 20/03/2017 19:39

I think it would be fine as a girls name. So sorry for your loss. Flowers

You could also use something similar sounding like Daria, Darian, Dahlia, Darcey, Dara or Darina.

ColourfulOrangex · 20/03/2017 19:40

Thank you all, I think I will definitely put Darryl in there Smile hadn't thought of using it just as it was, thank you again

I think Darryl works well as a neutral name

GottaGetThisDone · 20/03/2017 19:48

So sorry for your loss.
Darryl works well for either girl or boy, but you know what so what if it is a boys name you are using it as a tribute to her daddy so who cares
My sisters middle name is my uncles first name - a very traditional Scottish name

shitgibbon · 20/03/2017 19:51

Darrelle

I would use Darryl. She'll love the connection to him 💐.

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/03/2017 02:15

Sorry for your loss op. As others have said and assured you, Darryl is just fine as it is as tribute Flowers

TheGaleanthropist · 25/03/2017 02:39

Sorry for your loss Flowers. That is a lovely tribute. I think Darryl is neutral enough (due to Daryl Hannah). But also I don't think it matters whether it's boy/girl/neutral- my middle name is William.

ColourfulOrangex · 25/03/2017 06:46

Thank you all because we weren't married she won't be able to have him named on her birth certificate so I wanted a tribute somehow Flowers

Salmotrutta · 25/03/2017 09:24

OP I'm so sorry about your partner.

Are you sure you can't name him on the birth certificate?

It may be different up here in Scotland but I'm 99% certain that unmarried couples can put the fathers name on the birth certificate?

And I taught a girl called Darryll years ago - lovely name Flowers

reuset · 25/03/2017 09:31

I forgot to mention I thought Darryl was fine (and yes, it is the famous Malory Towers main character, Darrell, from one of Blyton's husband's names, here ) I do hope you manage to get your partner's name on the birth certificate, perhaps someone will be able to advise you.
