Feelings on now feminine names for boys?

Previous post... Selwyn didn't seem too popular.

Now I'm thinking about names that lean a bit more feminine these days:

Vivian

Hilary

Kelly

Thoughts? Also any other suggestions of feminine names for boys?

Jess maybe it's the same one!

ItShouldHaveBeenJingleJess · 17/03/2017 01:29

Laurie? (ex tried to convince me Lauren was a boys name. He had less than innocent reasons for trying to do so!) But I knew a lovely lad called Laurie.

shout (whispers) He had a diner....

Beansonapost · 17/03/2017 01:31

I have a -

Vivian
Kim
As male friends...

I like Vivian .

ShoutOutToMyEx · 17/03/2017 01:37

Jess I only knew him in primary school... he didn't have one then...

Town beginning with C?

pennypeony · 17/03/2017 01:39

Hayden is an Americanising of Haydn.
Lyn for a male is spelt Lin.

ItShouldHaveBeenJingleJess · 17/03/2017 01:40

I never knew his surname but he was in a town beginning with S in the West country. Boo! I so wanted it to be the same guy/Skye!

ShoutOutToMyEx · 17/03/2017 01:43

So did I! Never mind. Hopefully we've inspired the OP and there will be a third male Skye wandering the streets Grin

ItShouldHaveBeenJingleJess · 17/03/2017 01:48

Totally irrelevant but my friend told me to listen to 'Shout Out to my ex' - wicked song. Smile

ShoutOutToMyEx · 17/03/2017 01:52

Ha, i know. I have it in my head about 23 hours a day now it's my username though!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 17/03/2017 10:06

Lynn Davies (who both the boys I knew were named after) certainly doesn't spell it Lin.

pennypeony · 17/03/2017 10:11

Yes, true Lynn is. Two Ls.
A bit like Haydn. Both Welsh. :)

I know a male Madison. For a while he was dating a female Madison. It was odd.

NuffSaidSam · 17/03/2017 22:05

I'd generally go for a boys name for a boy.

It's just easier for the child.

is a link to David Mitchell explaining why it's best not to give your child a super yooneek name. Just in case you're interested.

I have a Finish friend named Kari and I remember I asked him where his name comes from (because I never heard it used for a male). He said is the name of the Scandinavian god of wind. I am so used to it now :)

paddypants13 · 17/03/2017 22:28

I know or knew men called Hilary, Kerry, Kelly, Kylie, Ashley, Vivian, Dorian and Jody.

I quite like Kerry and Jody but I'm not keen on unisex names for either sex tbh.

AmysTiara · 17/03/2017 22:29

I like Kelly for a boy

Serowe72 · 17/03/2017 22:29

What about Lyndon.

BestIsWest · 17/03/2017 22:33

Alison can be used for a man too.

DH has one of the names on this thread and hates it. He was going to change it at one point. To Simon.

ilovepixie · 17/03/2017 22:33

Why give a boy a girls name? He will only get bullied.

HeadlessGummyBears · 17/03/2017 22:44

Some suggestions of soft/feminine names for boys:

Alexis
Ashley
Blake
Cary
Cory
Gabriel
Gale
Jessie
Marley
Quinn
Riley
River
Rory
Sage

Beachedwh4le · 17/03/2017 22:46

I really like Vivian, but I'm also one of those who wanted to call a DD James, so probably I'm not a reliable source.

You'll get a lot of criticism on here for mixing things up, but you should go with what you love.

all the chat of bullies makes me Hmm bullies will find a reason to bully no matter what, so maybe we should focus our energies on teaching bullies to be responsible for their actions

SeamusMacDubh · 17/03/2017 23:03

What about Michel? (Not going along with the Gilmore Girls theme here at all...)

SeamusMacDubh · 17/03/2017 23:04

Jem? (Could be short for Jeremiah/Jeremy, though could be shortened to Jemmy too)

SeamusMacDubh · 17/03/2017 23:05

Angel is popular in Spain isn't it?
