I have a very gorgeous 6 week old little boy but he doesn't have a name :(

He is 6 weeks old tomorrow and we do have an appointment to register him but I am crossing my fingers that I'm able to change it.

The issue is that we just can't agree. My favourite name is Elliot but he doesn't like it and his favourite is Montgomery (I had never heard of this name before I met him). He seems to like really over the top 'posh' names? Confused my offer was Hugo - I thought that was an amazing compromise! He doesn't like that Confused

I'm struggling massively SadSadSad

We had the same problem with DS2's name. Took us nearly 6 weeks to decide by which time we'd come round full circle back to the name we'd started with before he was born. He was just called 'the baby' for the first 5 weeks and 6 days.

Mouthfulofquiz · 13/03/2017 22:46

Edmund Robert would be an absolutely superb name.

Autumnsunshinebaby · 13/03/2017 22:49

He looks like a Rory to me!

Sophronia · 13/03/2017 22:53

I like Robert!

Jenniferb21 · 13/03/2017 22:57

My advice is don't worry so much because once you associate your beautiful boy with whatever name you pick you'll love the name. Some family members didn't seem keen on the name we picked but always say they can't imagine it being anything else now.

I like monty for short too but have always liked Elliot.

I'd get him named and try to not delay the appointment if it were me. it must feel difficult as his little personality is coming through at that age but you haven't named him yet. He has a lovely smile. X

gameofchance · 13/03/2017 22:57

My sons nursery hamster is called Monty. Sorry

ElizaDontlittle · 13/03/2017 23:11

He is gorgeous! What a lovely boy.
I know 2 little Roberts and because of them, I love it. You just do, once you have a personality to attach to the name. My first cat was Elliot but it's a great name. I agree Monty is a bit much - and any of the Ed-variations much nicer. He needs to give you more suggestions if he's just turning you down flat.
I too like

I don't find Edmund "posh" and know a couple who are both called Ed.

Joinourclub · 13/03/2017 23:58

Oscar
Theodore
Nathanial
Augustus / Gus
Jeremiah
Xander
Felix
Francis

lazycrazyhazy · 14/03/2017 00:04

I don't like Elliot, not a fan of surnames as first names personally. But he is utterly adorable and will grow into whatever you call him. If your husband wants strength why not Hector or Thor? Rupert is traditionally smart but also adaptable (Roo) makes me think of Rupert Penry-Jones (swoon). Do let us know.

TheFairyCaravan · 14/03/2017 00:08

He's a beautiful baby. Congratulations 💐

We've got an Elliot. He's a 6ft 2 strapping, 22yo and his name suits him as much now as it did when he was a tiny baby.

I love Isaac too. It would have been on our list had we have had any more after DS2.

Monty is a dog's name, don't call him that.

FreeNiki · 14/03/2017 00:12

I really like Robert.

It was super popular in the 80s and so there are a great many men in their 30s called Robert, Rob, etc.

It certainly is not a middle aged mans name, more associated with fairly young men.

RubyBluesey · 14/03/2017 00:27

Buntysoven · 14/03/2017 01:12

Gorgeous gorgeous baby! How about Benedict?

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 14/03/2017 01:16

He is an Edmund or Elijah.
What a beautiful little chap.

avamiah · 14/03/2017 01:19

Congratulations.
I think Tom, short for Thomas.

FastForward2 · 14/03/2017 01:19

Elliot Montgomery
I knew a mum who had 2 names for baby in this situation, just have him both so he could choose later himself. Montgomery as middle name.

raeray · 14/03/2017 01:33

He is beautiful congrats OP!
My suggestions (some already suggested!)

Tobias (nn Toby)
Samuel
Theodore
Nathaniel
Jonah
Peter (a classic but I think one due a revival!)

raeray · 14/03/2017 01:33

Ps I also do like Elliott and Monty!

ProsAndCons · 14/03/2017 02:23

Aw - he's gorgeous! He does look like an Elliot! Though you'll find no one spells it your way!

How about William? It means strong protector, so if the name isn't strong enough maybe the meaning will suffice? Arthur also means bear, would that help?
