He is 6 weeks old tomorrow and we do have an appointment to register him but I am crossing my fingers that I'm able to change it.

The issue is that we just can't agree. My favourite name is Elliot but he doesn't like it and his favourite is Montgomery (I had never heard of this name before I met him). He seems to like really over the top 'posh' names? Confused my offer was Hugo - I thought that was an amazing compromise! He doesn't like that Confused

I'm struggling massively SadSadSad

James indeed is a beautiful name. Also Milo and Leo. I also like Elliott. It is really hard to name a baby! I totally understand.

Hysterectomyhysteria · 13/03/2017 20:06

You do know that you don't have to register a name at 6 weeks don't you? You can just register the birth and you have a year to register a name.
I didn't register DD2 name for 12 weeks.

How about:

Albert
Aubrey
Clement
Joseph
Laurence

Grayson?

Tootsiepops · 13/03/2017 20:11

Op, I am the least maternal person EVER, but oh my days - I'm dying of cute. Your baby is adorable!

Elliot is a great name and he would suit it for sure sorry - I'm also not helping

ToffeeForEveryone · 13/03/2017 20:11

Oh he is just gooooooorgeous! Congratulations Grin

And clearly an Elliot.

Falafelings · 13/03/2017 20:11

Monty is the nick name for Montgomery. You could introduce him as Monty with Montgomery on the paperwork

Seb. Sebastian

Laurence

Ivo

ImLadybird · 13/03/2017 20:13

Aw, he's gorgeous!

mnbvcxzl · 13/03/2017 20:14

He has such an Elliott vibe.

I really don't get the current trend for OTT names. I know someone with a Levison and all I think of is 'inquiry'.

Chocolatecake12 · 13/03/2017 20:14

Just looking at that beautiful picture I think he looks like an Isaac. It means laughter.

skincarejunkie · 13/03/2017 20:14

We have a Rufus and he's grown into his name. Crazy, quirky, scruffy and overly eloquent for a 4 year old. Wonderful! My cat was Elliott. He too was a wonderful boy. Monty was also an option for us. All great names, in my opinion. Many congratulations on your baby!

Pigeonpost · 13/03/2017 20:15

I have a Monty. He was almost Edgar, Wilbur or Wilfred. He isn't a Montgomery. Not sure if that helps or not!

notangelinajolie · 13/03/2017 20:15

I really don't like Montgomery or the shortened version of Monty. It's a bit pretentious for me.

Love your alternative choice of Hugo but my very favourite boys name and never got to use (3 girls) is Maximillian (Max)

DH chose DD1's name. He really, really wanted a particular girls name - much more than I wanted the name I preferred so we went with his choice for first name and I picked her middle name. When DD2 came along he couldn't decide so we went with my choice. 3rd DD's name was chosen by her 2 big sisters.

Have to say I'm surprised you are still struggling after 6 weeks. Sounds like you are both very strong willed and neither of you wants to back down. Good luck - hopefully someone will put a name on this thread that you both love.

mnbvcxzl · 13/03/2017 20:16

Sorry it's Leveson.

junebirthdaygirl · 13/03/2017 20:16

Such a cute little guy. Next time get your.name agreed on whhen you are in the throes of labour and your dh will agree to any name you choose. Too late to get the sympathy vote this time but l think Monty is a great name and Edmund is even better. Just decide. He is a perfect baby. He will carry off any name. Register tomorrow. He deserves a name.

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 13/03/2017 20:18

What? He considers Montgomery a strong name?

leighdinglady · 13/03/2017 20:20

I knew a boy called Greg who was so lovely, if that's posh enough for your DH. I knew another sweetheart called Harrison, that's quite a manly sounding name. Could you go with Elliott then DH picks the middle name?
