Thoughts?
Connotations?
Was chatting with my dad about family names and this was one of them that made me think...hmm.
We have two dd already and seem to have run out of names!

Lovely, but very popular, (where I live at least), if that bothers you.

smileygrapefruit · 05/03/2017 17:54

Is it Rockaby ? I don't know any! What region are you in?

I think it's a very pretty name. I like Flo for short too

meettherussians · 05/03/2017 18:01

Also insanely popular here in London. I think it sounds old-fashioned and a bit pompous, not all whimsical, vintage in a quirky way and floral as i think a lot of people intend.

Jooni · 05/03/2017 18:22

I think it's really nice OP. Light and pretty but also serious. I do know a few (East Mids) but many more Olivia, Isla, Amelia, Evie etc. I think Florence makes a nice change.

Rockaby · 05/03/2017 18:22

Yes, really popular here OP. I am in Home Counties. It is a lovely name though, which is why it's so popular! Smile

ToDuk · 05/03/2017 18:24

Lovely name. About as popular as Grace or Milly round here.

HerRoyalNotness · 05/03/2017 18:28

I like it and it's a family name for me too, but DH isn't keen, sadly (may squeeze it in as another MN)

welshweasel · 05/03/2017 18:30

Popular here too (east mids). I'm not that keen on it personally.

SuperBeagle · 05/03/2017 19:28

It's not popular where I am, but I'm not in the UK. I don't like it very much. Both of the Florences I know (one who's in her 20s, and one who's in her 80s) get "Flo" for short, which is awful. The other Flo I know is a Boston terrier.

MollyHuaCha · 05/03/2017 19:29

Lovely name.

Lapinlapin · 05/03/2017 19:33

Yes, very popular at the moment. But don't let it put you off if you like the name.

Dilligufdarling · 05/03/2017 19:34

Hugely popular around here too (southeast ) - I know 4 (and I don't know that many children!)
I do love it though, but I think the popularity of it is removing some of the romance for me.

EmmaC78 · 05/03/2017 19:36

I am in Scotland and it is very popular here too at the moment. I am not too keen on the name,

angelicjen · 05/03/2017 19:37

Love it but really popular here too.

ILoveMonkeys · 05/03/2017 19:42

I think it sounds old-fashioned and a bit pompous, not all whimsical, vintage in a quirky way and floral as i think a lot of people intend.

I completely agree. I have never been able to put into words how I feel about this name but this is it!!

Also extremely popular in Wales

lovetonamechange · 05/03/2017 19:55

Very popular here too (London)

Sistafromanuthamista · 05/03/2017 19:58

I know a couple.

I'm not mad on it as I don't like Flo/Flossie

What about Iris, Mabel, Beatrice? Similar vibe

summerholsdreamin · 05/03/2017 20:26

Gorgeous name

RuthB4 · 05/03/2017 21:50

Beautiful name!

mum2be2boys · 06/03/2017 09:32

Lovely name! It does seem to be growing in popularity here too (SW England) I know 3 under the age of 3. It is a very pretty name though :-)

fruityb · 06/03/2017 09:33

Was our choice had DS been a girl Smile

Bear2014 · 06/03/2017 09:39

Gorgeous, but I also know 3 of them under the age of 2 (London)

Frazzled2207 · 06/03/2017 09:42

Love it
Don't know any round here (north west)

FairfaxAikman · 06/03/2017 09:42

It was the name of my grandmothers aunt and she always refers to her as "Aunt Flo", which would really put me off (especially as your has siblings, so may be an aunt herself one day)
