Harriet/Harri

Due our 3rd DD. DH has always wanted to call a DS Harry, for his grandad. It's unlikely we'll have more DC so thinking about Harriet. Honest opinions please! How common/popular is it?

Others that have popped to my mind are:
Charlotte
Polly
Pixie (3 yo DD suggested it but I think I like it!)
Lily

I prefer Charlotte and Pixie.

Harriet is a little harsh sounding and Harri sounds very much like the name Harry or the verb to harry.

HandsomeBoys · 22/02/2017 22:12

Harriet on bc
Harris as a nn

Really like Pixie too

HandsomeBoys · 22/02/2017 22:12

Harri not Harris!!!

MikeUniformMike · 22/02/2017 22:14

I know of a Harriet and it really suits her - they were planning on calling her Harri but she's a Harriet, so a big Yes from me.

SoftSheen · 22/02/2017 22:15

Harriet is a lovely name.

totty77 · 22/02/2017 22:17

my daughter.....16 months is Harriette.......we used the french spelling. we love it !!

Cuppaand2biscuits · 22/02/2017 22:17

I know 2 Harriet's both get called Ettie. I think it's a lovely name and really if Ettie turns out to be too delicate of a nn then Harri might suit her perfectly!

Paddingtonthebear · 22/02/2017 22:18

I know two pre-school girls called Harriet. Nicknames Hattie and Harri

reuset · 22/02/2017 22:18

Harriet/Harri/Harry - fine. Fairly popular, not top 10 though. Other names fine, though I prefer Harriet. Pixie is silly.

Nobody cares much about the verb 'to harry' given vast popularity of Harry, unless they're studying William the Conquerer or suchlike that is, and then only briefly Grin

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/02/2017 22:22

Harriet is lovely.
Harriet Pixie, your little daughter will love that ! It's really sweet.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/02/2017 22:23

I know a Harriet mn Harri, gorgeous teenage girl. It's fab.

DramaAlpaca · 22/02/2017 22:28

I really like Harriet, and Harri is very cute.

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 22/02/2017 22:30

There was a girl at my school called Angharad shortened to Hari. I thought it was such a cool name. She was cool to go with it, with lovely swishy hair.

smileygrapefruit · 22/02/2017 22:36

Aww Harriet Pixie is quite cute, sugar , DD1 would love it. Any views on the others?

I also like Lily Harriet, and Charlotte Pixie. 😄

Sophronia · 22/02/2017 23:24

I really like Harriet

SuperBeagle · 23/02/2017 00:13

I like Lily the most, but I'm biased.

After that, I like Polly and Charlotte.

I'm not a fan of Harriet, but it's an objectively nice name and I think it's quite popular on here. I like Hattie as a nickname, but Harri is a nice way to honour your DH's granddad.

Hate Pixie, sorry. Blush But I also hate Posy, Peaches, Honey etc. All of those names are so sickly, IMO (we do have a dog named Peach... but she's a dog).

Jooni · 23/02/2017 07:15

I like Harriet/Harri (or she could be Hattie/Hetty/Etta if Harri didn't suit - lots of options). Charlotte is nice too, and I really like Polly.

I get what you mean about Pixie but I think it's a little too childish for a first name. Great as a middle though - Harriet Pixie is so sweet!

gollygoodnessgraciousme · 23/02/2017 12:37

Love Harriet and Charlotte

smileygrapefruit · 23/02/2017 14:00

Thanks for all the feedback, keep it coming! I'm surprised there haven't been any oh my God no you can't call your daughter that! type answers. Very positive so far. I just don't know if I LOVE it.

I have a Harriet, we assumed her nn would be Harry, but five weeks in she became Hattie and now she is Hattie all the time, and as far as I can tell she always will be.

Chocolatecake12 · 24/02/2017 19:13

Harriet is my all time favourite girls name and has been for 16 years or so... I had 2 ds's though!

CaipirinhasAllRound · 24/02/2017 19:37

Really like Harriet

mum2be2boys · 25/02/2017 08:54

I love the name Harriet, especially with the family link. There are some nice nicknames too.

I also like Lily and Charlotte from your list, but Harriet is my favourite.

Dixiestamp · 26/02/2017 01:04

Love Harriet. My DS is a Harri (Welsh spelling of Harry).
