If you heard the following names but didn't see the child/know any other details, would you assume they were boys or girls? You haven't seen the names written down so spellings make no difference.

Frankie
Ronnie
Charlie
Sidney/Sydney
Morgan
Riley
Jordan
Ashley
Aubrey
Addison
Emerson
Mackenzie
Phoenix
Brodie
Brogan

It wasn't. But one is permitted to comment beyond the original question. Hope that clarification helps.

You didn't comment beyond the original question. You totally ignored the original question and went on to add an irrelevant opinion.

Are you new here? Perhaps read some other threads. People comment on all sorts unrelated to the original question.
You are welcome!

Are you new here?

Nope.

It'd be like someone asking for an opinion on the name James, and you volunteer: "I really love the name Gregory", and leaving it at that. Totally irrelevant.

James and Gregory are both good names. For boys.

I would imagine Frankie to be a girl, and the rest boys.
Of course, I am aware that they are indeed, unisex names.

TheWinterOfOurDiscountTents · 20/02/2017 10:09

They are all unisex

Are they though, really?

All boys except Mackenzie, who is an American girl.

Report

All boys. Except Mackenzie, Frankie and Phoenix which I wouldn't assume we're boys for sure.

Why?

Frankie - 50/50 I think.
Ronnie - if it was a child I'd definitely assume boy. With an adult it's more 50/50 because it could be short for Veronica.
Charlie - boy
Sidney/Sydney - boy
Morgan - boy
Riley - defintely boy
Jordan - defintely boy
Ashley -boy
Aubrey - 50/50
Addison- girl
Emerson - boy

I would think they were all boy names. Although I think Nancy Mitford's mother was Sydney, wasn't she? And I've heard Ashley used for a girl (although I always think of the (male) character in "Gone with the Wind" whenever I hear it....)

NataliaOsipova · 20/02/2017 11:42

....mind you, I suppose Frankie/Ronnie/Charlie are used as diminutives of Francesca/Veronica/Charlotte etc....

All boys, although Aubrey is rather annoyingly becoming more widely used for girls now.

They are all rather council estate names

Well, aren't you just lovely?

Riley - boy
Brodie - boy
Emerson/Addison/Brogan/Aubrey - do not know those names
All the rest are male but I automatically think of girls as I have met a number with those names

Why?
