I've just found a note of possible names on my phone and I found it really interesting the variety of names we considered. We've had two girls so never got to choose a boys names, my absolute favourite boys name is Sebastian and I really would have pushed for that.

What are your unused names? Here are mine:

Boy

  • Ethan
  • Sebastian
  • Alaric
  • Tierney
  • Mylo
  • Remy
  • Elijah

Girl

  • Willow
  • Madison
  • MacKenzie
  • Ellen
  • Caitlin
  • Isabelle
  • Ella
  • Amelie
  • Ava
  • Georgia
  • Zara
  • Savannah

Reading thru these lists, its thankfull some werent used! I Wanted to call first DD Sarah Jane, but ex H, said it sounded like a rag doll in a kids story book! Second John I wanted Johnathon, he said it would get shorted to John, so then I wanted John-Edward, he wanted John-Henry after a cowboy charactor played by John Wayne, none of these used. I oddly, "knew" exactly what I was going to have, girl, boy, boy, girl, (no scans in those days) so only chose sex apropriate names.

DD - Veronica, Matilda, Erica, Rose (which was the 'safe' name we both agreed on)

DD - can't remember most of the names that were on the list (over 10 yrs ago now) but think Jude was on there. DH was not keen.

Thanks for sharing these. Definitely given us some ideas for our first - too early to know sex yet. Found a lot more girls names that I like than boys names though.

DS, very young father, mentioned Shaquilla, Destiny or Desire for his expected daughter but he and his DP chose a different name. I like Destiny and Shaquilla was after Shaquil O'Neil, a US Sports star I think. I'm not so keen on Desire although I met a lovely Dutch woman who I thought said her name was Daisy-Rae. It was actually Desiree pronounced Day si ray!

BaconAndAvocado · 18/02/2017 20:37

DH wanted Alexa or Liberty for DD.

I didn't and got my choice of a long name that begins with A and ends with a.

Hudson and Elliot. The fact that my little man is not named Elliot but named after a character in 'Glee' due to my eldest kids love of it will always make me a little sad. I do like his name but it's not my fav!

I didn't use Ruth for a girl and Alec for a boy.

Trollspoopglitter · 20/02/2017 07:34

I was in love with the name Elsa.
DH vetoed it because it reminded him of the famous Elsa the lioness.

Couple of years later, Frozen came out.

Talk about dodging a bullet Grin
