I've just found a note of possible names on my phone and I found it really interesting the variety of names we considered. We've had two girls so never got to choose a boys names, my absolute favourite boys name is Sebastian and I really would have pushed for that.

What are your unused names? Here are mine:

Boy

  • Ethan
  • Sebastian
  • Alaric
  • Tierney
  • Mylo
  • Remy
  • Elijah

Girl

  • Willow
  • Madison
  • MacKenzie
  • Ellen
  • Caitlin
  • Isabelle
  • Ella
  • Amelie
  • Ava
  • Georgia
  • Zara
  • Savannah

Mrsmeeseeks lol meant to write roman but autocorrect felt otherwise

Dontrocktheboat · 11/02/2017 22:39

Names considered but not used:

Amos
Idris
Iris

All vetoed by dp!

Ds 1 would have been Esther Grace
Ds 2 would have been Ada Mhairi

My dd has a name that is objectively lovely but in retrospect is a bit too popular (first baby!)

HeteronormativeHaybales · 11/02/2017 22:43

When no. 3 was on the way I was desperate for Orlando (after Gibbons, not Bloom) if it was a boy, but dh vetoed. (She was a girl).

Ds2 was nearly Leo.

ArriettyClock1 · 12/02/2017 00:04

Had I had a girl 18 years ago,I was really keen on Lola.

I shudder at the name now and thank God I had a boy! What was I thinking?

dimdommilpot · 12/02/2017 11:53

Both our girls would of been Isabell if it had been up to OH.
DD1 was always going to be the name she is but girls names we didnt go with for DD2 include:
Elsa.
Arya.
Alba.
Ayla.
Obviously we liked names ending in 'a' as the chosen name does...
Boys names for both include:
Arlo.
Asa.
Seth.
Zachary.

If I was to have a girl now she would be Sylvie. A boy would be Asa.

NoSeaSeagull · 12/02/2017 12:59

Also from a long forgotten note on my phone....

Girls names

Sasha (DP's favourite)
Arianne
Anya
Eliza
Athena
Iona
Nia
Carys

Boys Names

Sasha (again-DP's favourite)
Leo
William
Seth (my favourite)
Elijah
Jasper
Rupert

The name our DD has isn't even on the list, it was a bit of a compromise name which I've grown to love and suits her completely.

"11/02/2017 04:28 DanGleballs

Emmet is a insulting cornish word for tourists or non-cornish folk. It means ants as tourists swarm like ants. Not a name I would choose."

This really made me laugh. Emmet is a very established, popular name. Does it mean ants in Cornish?'

My list was:

Lavinia
Marnie
Oralie
Darcy
Jemima
Felicity
Claudia
Grace
Imogen
Constance
Delphine
Nancy
Cecilly
Vivian
Audrey
Matilda
Clemency
Florence

The only boys names we had were Quentin and crispin (I know) luckily we had 2 DD who don't have any of the above names- still love most of them

Uglycoyote · 14/02/2017 20:16

Toby.

Vanessa.

Still love them both, but there will be no DC4.

Trainspotting1984 · 14/02/2017 20:18

Oh yes Toby and Vanessa are great names!

SmokeMeAKipper1 · 14/02/2017 20:22

We had a DS 4 months ago and only had 1 name we liked, still in that frame of mind ' I am never doing that again EVER' but if we did have another boy I seriously have no idea on what we would call him as I don't like any other names and I looked at a lot! We wanted Isabelle Milly if he was a girl.

crapfatbanana · 14/02/2017 21:13

Combining lists from two pregnancies:

Bethan
Morag
Niamh
Winona
Orla
Tabitha
Florence
Maude

Orson
Edward/Teddy
Cameron
Lachlan
Malachi

Momoftwoscallywags · 15/02/2017 13:15

Our first born was always going to be a certain name, but I found our list for our second. If he had been a girl we had a short list of:

Seren - means Star
Berth - means beautiful
Inira - Honour

As he was a boy (found out at 20 weeks scan) this was our shortlist:

James
Maxen - means great
Taliesin - I vetoed this as I struggled to say it!
Alexander
Teague or alternative spelling Taig
Cole
Coll - Hazel tree
Ellis
Addis - means flame
Keir - little dark one
Nye
Evan

We went for something else entirely in the end.

Winemamma · 15/02/2017 13:36

Struggled with boys names, but liked
George
Aaron (now DS's middle name)
James
Finley

Girls
Amelie
Anna
Aliona
Grace
Sophia
Milly
Evie

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 15/02/2017 14:19

Amelie
Evelyn
Isabelle

Those were for dd1 who is a Lucia.

Penelope
Josephine
Genevieve

Those were for dd2 who is a Francesca.

I obviously have a thing for 3 syllables.

Meffy · 15/02/2017 14:31
