We are both lovers of the sea and will be moving back to Cornwall soon. We are thinking about girls names with Cornish link or sea link. Though I'm also really fond of Xanthe which has no links to anything but I love it :) thoughts please on;

Elowen (I would pronounce El-OW- en
Lowenna
Lamorna
Rozenwyn
Morgelyn
Cordelia (Cordie)

Marnie (of the sea)- if the Hitchcock connection doesn't put you off.
Merryn - male saint but used for girls now.

danTDM · 04/02/2017 11:41

Mar is popular in Spain where I live. It's a lovely name I think.

But Cordelia is my personal fave of your choices.

PuppyMonkey · 04/02/2017 11:41

I love Elowen.

Kai - ocean
Maya - water
Maren - sea/of the sea
Misty
Morwen/Morwenna - waves of the sea (I think this is a Cornish name but I found a website that gives the meaning as waves of the sea. Really like this as it has a Cornish and sea link). www.babynames.biz/water-themed-baby-names.html

midsomermurderess · 04/02/2017 12:38

Mara, Scots Gaelic.

CakeRattleandRoll · 04/02/2017 12:57

Love Elowen. Would have used it for DD, but put off by soooo many 'Ellie' type names, including DNiece. Really like Xanthe too.

Love Morwenna - it gives you both the Cornish link and the sea link.
Also:
Kerensa
Tegan (with short 'e' sound)
Meriel (bright sea)

FineLookingHighHorse · 04/02/2017 13:37

My vote goes to Whelk Grin
I was going to suggest Ursula.
Iolanthe may have a sea meaning but you'd have to look it up in case I'm feeding you rubbish.

MikeUniformMike · 04/02/2017 14:45

Circe
Gwennol
Morwenna
