We don't love any of them but we have a sort of list..

Cassius
River
Atticus
Remy
Caspian

What do you think? Do you have any suggestions along the same lines?

You (or someone) posted this list before I think? I think Atticus was the consensus then.

beckslovestimmy · 01/02/2017 13:36

How about some more normal names. Would you like to be called any of these? Maybe use as a middle name.

Twistmeandturnme · 01/02/2017 13:40

I prefer Casper to Cassius or Caspian.
River is nice if you are arty types: but from your other names I'm not sure you are (where's Willow or Rowan for example).
Remy: are you French with a family connection to this name? If not it's the name of a brand of cognac.
Atticus is cool I think but will it be cool if your son grows into a 6'8" rugby playing type rather than an intellectual?
Suggestion: Rufus.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/02/2017 13:41

Atticus is nice.
I'm not thrilled about the others.
I prefer Casper rather than Caspian
Other suggestions.
Lucian
Winston
Rhauri

hoddtastic · 01/02/2017 13:42

River is really not good,
Remy- Are you french> If not, no.
Atticus is about the best, they all sound a bit 'trying to be different'

Pipilangstrumpf · 01/02/2017 13:42

I love Cassius and Atticus! Brilliant classic strong names that aren't overused.

Other suggestions
Quentin
Rufus
Reuben
Caspar

Pipilangstrumpf · 01/02/2017 13:47

Hoddastic, shouldn't we not all try a little harder to name our kids different names? How dull if even more kids were named Jack, Alfie or Finn or similar fashionable names?

I know teenage boys named Cassius and Caspar who are very cool and very happy with their names. Not everyone wants a top 10 name.

hoddtastic · 01/02/2017 14:47

my kids have classic rather than trendy/appropriated names.

I know several Caspars/Casper. I think the names listed are all trying to be trendy, i worded initial response incorrectly :)

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 01/02/2017 14:55

Thanks for the replies. We are not trying to be trendy as such, just don't like top 100 names really.. is that a bad thing? I have an Astrid and and Asa if that helps.

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 01/02/2017 14:56

Also are they not "normal" I mean they're not made up! I have an unusual name.. never bothered me.

LemonBreeland · 01/02/2017 14:57

I like Atticus the most. However it may start looking like an 'A' theme.

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 01/02/2017 14:59

Yes lemon, that's what's put us off Atticus, otherwise that would be my favourite seems we're just drawn to 'A' names.

hoddtastic · 01/02/2017 15:01

i love Astrid and Asa, depending on your surname I would go for Patrick (Paddy) Max, Fred, Robert (Bobby) or John (johnny)

MuMuMuuuum · 01/02/2017 15:04

I love Astrid! DH veto' for DD.

Atticus is my favourite.

Ilovewillow · 01/02/2017 15:11

Twistneandturnme - you made me laugh we have a willow and we are not remotely arty!!

Atticus is lovely and was on our list.

Floralnomad · 01/02/2017 15:12

Of those Cassius is the best , what about Dylan or Dashiell .

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/02/2017 15:19

Jasper
Rex
Dorian
Julius
Llewelyn
Lucien
Maxim

TDmoocher · 01/02/2017 15:24

If you have Astrid and Asa then I'd go for Atticus and stick with the 'A' theme. Alternatively

Atlas
Aeneas
Arnold

Otto
Rex
Inigo

Babasaclover · 01/02/2017 15:26

Atticus is lovely and reminds me fondly of to kill a mockingbird.

Think an A theme is ok too Otherwise this child may wonder why he has not got one and feel left out

tooclosetocall · 01/02/2017 15:32

Cassius.
Atticus isn't bad but thinking ahead, both are names that could potentially be shortened when your DC is older (school friends, team mates) and imo I'd prefer Cas over Atty.

We had Cassius on a boys list before we found out we were having a girl. I still love it.

tooclosetocall · 01/02/2017 15:35

I know a young lady named Astrid, and a younger Asa.
Good taste in names, Burning

MrsBobDylan · 01/02/2017 15:48

How about Etienne? Or Seamus?

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 01/02/2017 16:15

cassius was on my list over 20 years ago

jasper
river

leif

KlingybunFistelvase · 01/02/2017 16:21

I'm not keen on any of them (sorry), but I do like pp suggestions:

Otto
Lucien

namechange20050 · 01/02/2017 16:22
