We don't love any of them but we have a sort of list..

Cassius
River
Atticus
Remy
Caspian

What do you think? Do you have any suggestions along the same lines?

Atticus will be known as Attic when he's a teen.

beautyandthebump · 01/02/2017 16:44

I don't think the A name theme is a problem at all, quote the contrary - I would make it a theme and continue it!

Atticus is cool.
Arlo is another A name I heard recently and thought was nice and different.

When I hear Cassius, I instantly think think of Cassius Black. Not saying it's bad, or good, just a common association to consider perhaps.

How do you say Asa by the way? Sorry for being thick! Blush

Pipilangstrumpf · 01/02/2017 17:40

Atticus is very cool, I agree!

Sapphireshadow · 01/02/2017 17:58

My favourite is River. Also Atticus and think the 'A' theme is ok.
What about?
Arlo
Casper
Jasper
Felix
Forrest
Orion

Love Remy - international, cool, classic and not overly used here...assuming you're in UK, OP ?

Love Atticus - as PPs have mentioned, obviously very positive association with Atticus Finch in "To Kill A Mockingbird". (I think most people cling to that version as a hero; avoid "Go Set A Watchman" Sad). Timeless and classical name history.

Re your other children's names: Astrid is one of my favourite girl's names. Rarely ever come across it IRL. Good choice. Asa's a new one to me (pron. AY-sah?). Unusual and they definitely go well together.

Of course we all have individual tastes, but I've never understood why someone else's name choices differing to their own are automatically deemed "try hard"; it'd be a dull old world if nobody ever ventured outside the familiar few...

(Names which are downright inappropriate, or guaranteed to set a kid up for obvious teasing etc. is another matter, and I'd definitely agree with critics there).

Good luck for his safe delivery Flowers

CakeRattleandRoll · 01/02/2017 23:57

My favourite is Caspian. How about:
Casimir
Osian
Silas
Orson
Jarvis
Jago
Aldous

HaylJay · 02/02/2017 00:00

I like Cassius
Also it's your baby and your choice so don't let negative opinions of your baby name choice put you off whatever decision you make 😊

Bambambini · 02/02/2017 00:09

I like Remy. Not keen on the one initial for all theme. It's like somethine Waynetta Slob would do.

dovesong · 02/02/2017 00:13

Atticus is a lovely name and I think any child would be happy to share the same name as Atticus Finch :)

IHeartKingThistle · 02/02/2017 00:15

I love all of them!

Also met a little Cassian recently which I thought was lovely.

Twistmeandturnme · 02/02/2017 11:09

Not keen on the one initial for all theme. It's like somethine Waynetta Slob would do.
Nonsense. Waynetta Slob named her children Frogmella, Spudulika and Canoe.

Bambambini · 02/02/2017 11:40

Sorry Waynetta - how's things going these days?

RedSauce · 02/02/2017 12:01

I don't think any of these are too out there, just not super common that's all. Which fits with your other kids' names, so that's good.

My favourite is Cassius. It's our DS1's middle name.

I also LOVE Atticus. Don't see a problem with all their names starting with A (I know quite a lot of people whose parents did this with certain letters, and although people do comment on it, it's never in a bad way, just a thing, like "oh, interesting").

I do like River a lot, but I would worry that in the UK it's becoming quite common as a girls name (even though it's a boys name in my mind).

I'm not a fan of Remy.

Caspian is alright, I quite like it but it sounds a bit posh to me for some reason, and it's basically an inferior version of Cassius anyway.

10Betty10 · 02/02/2017 23:26

Atticus will always have To Kill A Mockingbird associations- so if it's a book you love go for it, if you aren't keen then maybe not the best call?

Love Caspian (and I really don't get posh vibes off it at all!)

River is a bit hippy for me, but isn't offensive or horrible.

I've only ever met girl Remys so in my head is a female name.

Peiple will I'm sure disagree with me on this but when I hear Cassius I think of the name Mohammed Ali got rid of as what he called his 'slave name' (yes I know that this was to do with his conversion to Islam, but it does still give instant associations with slavery, whether you agree with his definition or not)
Plus Caspian is a much nicer version anyway!

zukiecat · 07/02/2017 13:10

I like River and Remy

Both lovely sounding names

Montsti · 07/02/2017 14:30

Although I'm not a fan of siblings names beginning with the same letter unless twins, I do think you should go with the name you like best. And seeing as you already have 2 "A" names, it probably makes sense to go with another...

Fwiw I like Atticus & Cassius best. Not keen on the others but do like Casper & Jasper😊

I think with more unusual names like this you have to live them.

Kazzawazza69 · 07/02/2017 22:06

I really like your list - some lovely uncommon names! I think you should stick with the 'A' theme - Astrid, Asa and Atticus sound awesome together. Caspian would be my second choice.

CocoLoco87 · 07/02/2017 22:12

Atticus is my favourite. I also like Arlo, Silas, Solomon, Rafferty, Horatio, Benoit, Dimitri and Edwin.

butterflymum · 07/02/2017 22:15

If you are thinking As, then here's another for consideration - Azur.

Kazzawazza69 · 07/02/2017 22:16

I like the suggestion of Arlo as well.

JanuaryJuniper · 08/02/2017 00:12

Love Atticus and I think because your other dc names are so cool the same initial theme would be fine.

I also like Cassius rather than Caspian.

May I suggest Otis.
