Hello Mumsnet!

Baby boy is 12 days old. We just can't decide. Some opinions would be very helpful.

The 8 names:

  • Aidan
  • Elliot
  • Finn
  • Hayden
  • Isaac
  • Noah
  • Oliver
  • Reuben

The one we like the least is Oliver - it has an obvious NN. We don't mind the name being shortened/given a NN, but I can't see him having 'Reubs' or 'Els', etc. written on his books at school, but Ollie may well be!

OP posts:

Love these-

Aidan
Finn
Isaac

Reuben and Noah too trendy/overused right now.
Oliver bit boring and suddenly every other baby boy is called this.

CocoLoco87 · 15/01/2017 13:44

Piper have you decided? Let us know what you've gone with!

Hulababy · 15/01/2017 13:55

Lovely photograph Smile

My favourite by far is Oliver with a nn of Oli.
Would have been dd's name had she been a boy.

Nicknames won't be used on books etc unless you ask for that as a preference when at school and nursery.

I haven't taught an Oliver for a few years now (infant school) so bit as popular as it once was.

SirChenjin · 15/01/2017 14:54

Piper - how about Benedict? Similar-ish to Benjamin but not quite as popular

mum2bejen · 15/01/2017 14:54

Congratulations, he is gorgeous!

My order of preference from your list is: Oliver/Isaac (like these equally), Noah, Elliot, Aidan, Reuben, Finn, Hayden.

Good luck choosing, keep us posted :-)

Wenchelda · 15/01/2017 17:38

Oh my he's so teeny tiny! What a beautiful little boy. I think he's Isaac.

Rinmybell · 15/01/2017 17:56

Noah and Reuben. Love both.
Not very keen on the others.

harderandharder2breathe · 15/01/2017 17:59

Isaac stands out for me

septembersunshine · 15/01/2017 19:20

Bit biased, I have a 5 month old baby Aidan (also have a Jack). He is adorable op! I think he suits a soft sounding name. Oliver, Noah or Aidan gets my vote. All of the names are lovely in different names. Go with your gut.

Chocolatecake12 · 15/01/2017 19:50

Isaac means laughter - I know a lovely boy called Isaac and he brings joy and laughter to all who get to know him

Oliver is a fab strong name. All the Olivers I know are lovely intelligent people.

Noah is nice, I'm not keen on the other names though sorry.

Let us all know what you decide.

Surf25 · 15/01/2017 20:39

Your new son is so gorgeous! Congratulations! I think Isaac would be perfect!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 15/01/2017 20:41

Reuben or Isaac

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 15/01/2017 20:48

He is BEAUTIFUL, my God.

And an Elliot.

MikeUniformMike · 15/01/2017 21:48

I was shopping today and there was this really gorgeous little boy called Olly and although I previously didn't much care for the name, it suited him so well. So Oliver gets the thumbs up from me.
I also once met a really cute Elliott.

MikeUniformMike · 15/01/2017 21:50

I think he might be a Reuben.

GingerLDN · 15/01/2017 23:43

Reuben, Noah, Finn

Roseandbee · 16/01/2017 17:34

I like Finn and Oliver. I like Aidan too but i knew someone called that and he ended up getting called Aids a lot which i don't think is a good name

Changerazelea · 16/01/2017 19:47

He looks like a Reuben to me beautiful boy

montezumasrevenge · 16/01/2017 19:53

I think he looks like an Isaac. Congratulations EnvyFlowers

montezumasrevenge · 16/01/2017 19:54

Oops, sorry about the random green face Grin

Chatelherault · 16/01/2017 20:05

He looks like Isaac or Peter to me.

DorisDay88 · 16/01/2017 20:58

Nonameyet1 · 19/01/2017 21:05
