Baby boy is 12 days old. 8 names.

Hello Mumsnet!

Baby boy is 12 days old. We just can't decide. Some opinions would be very helpful.

The 8 names:

• Aidan
• Elliot
• Finn
• Hayden
• Isaac
• Noah
• Oliver
• Reuben

The one we like the least is Oliver - it has an obvious NN. We don't mind the name being shortened/given a NN, but I can't see him having 'Reubs' or 'Els', etc. written on his books at school, but Ollie may well be!

Aidan - Boring
Elliot - Hate
Finn - Like a lot
Hayden - REALLY hate
Isaac - LOVE
Noah - Like a lot
Oliver - Strongly dislike
Reuben - Like a lot

Isaac is clear favourite for me, but I also really like Reuben, then Finn, then Noah. The rest I would never even consider using.

12 days old, aw! Can we see him? It might help? ;)

Oliver but I am biased!! I swore he would never be Ollie but he is and it's just him so it doesn't matter :)

Which one does he look like?

Fwiw I know of an Elliott that gets shortened to Ellie, so that would put me off straight away. I also know a Hayden that gets called "Haydes". Also I imagine Reuben might get shortened to "Rubes".

My favourites off your list would be Isaac or Finn (or Flynn, which wasn't on your list but someone else mentioned!)

Oliver. But I don't know any who aren't called Ollie

Oliver is a lovely name, Aidan is really common where I live and is my least favourite x

Aidan - really like, with this spelling
Elliot - too surnamey and a bit wet
Finn - not keen
Hayden - don't like, Aidan is much nicer
Isaac - good solid name
Noah - getting a bit overdone now
Oliver - very nice
Reuben - OK

Also Samuel, Benjamin, William, Saul, Julian, Nathaniel

Reuben is my favourite.

Followed by (in order of preference):

• Elliot
• Finn

(I don't particularly like Noah down, though)

Congratulations on the birth of your gorgeous son. Personally I'm not keen at all on Aidan or Haydan. I personally would go:

1. Oliver
2. Isaac
3. Noah

Don't rule Oliver out, it's a lovely name and I'm sure if he doesn't want it shortened then he will say so. Good luck on making your decision
