Hello Mumsnet!

Baby boy is 12 days old. We just can't decide. Some opinions would be very helpful.

The 8 names:

  • Aidan
  • Elliot
  • Finn
  • Hayden
  • Isaac
  • Noah
  • Oliver
  • Reuben

The one we like the least is Oliver - it has an obvious NN. We don't mind the name being shortened/given a NN, but I can't see him having 'Reubs' or 'Els', etc. written on his books at school, but Ollie may well be!

Gorgeous boy.
Elliott is my favourite. I think Aidan Elliot has a nice ring to it.
I know of quite a few Noah's and Isaac is becoming more popular too.
Benjamin?? Someone else said it above and I think it suits him.

spencerreidswife · 14/01/2017 21:51

Love Noah. I'd have loved that for DS but DH didn't like it. We had Finlay(Finn for short) as one of 2 names for DS but went with the other name. Our DD went into nursery after he was born & announced she had a new brother called Finlay -she loved Finlay the fire engine at the time😂😂

AtSea1979 · 14/01/2017 21:52

Isaac

Jenda · 14/01/2017 21:53

I think my ovaries just exploded. OP your little boy is absolutely completely perfectly beautiful!!

I feel like you love Oliver the best but you're put off because of the nn. Thing is, kids will make nicknames from anything, for instance I know a Richard who has only ever been called Woody by his friends! He will always be Oliver at home and maybe Ollie to friends if he lets them. For what it's worth he looks like a lovely wise peaceful Oliver to me! I think he could be a Noah or Issac too. Congratulations!

Jenda · 14/01/2017 21:54

Actually he could be an Elliott too! I don't think he's a Hayden or Aidan or Rueben though

Screamer1 · 14/01/2017 21:54

Elliott!

SirChenjin · 14/01/2017 21:55

Get my vote but I'm 56 so not very up to date !

CocoLoco87 · 14/01/2017 22:48

Reuben with Isaac as middle name?

Congratulations, he is too cute!

TeshiB · 14/01/2017 22:54

Congratulations! I like Elliot

AuntJane · 15/01/2017 00:24

My great-uncle Reuben was known as Ron - but I would think that's not a common nn these days.

Like Elliot best.

KimmySchmidtsFakeXmasSmile · 15/01/2017 00:36

Aidan little fire
Eliott Jehovah is god
Finn Finnish descent
Hayden composer/heathen
Isaac he will laugh, he will rejoice
Noah rest, comfort
Oliver olive tree
Reuben behold, a son

I could not choose so looked up meanings and based on the above would call him Isaac. He is just beautiful OP. Congratulations x
