I'm so unsure. I think I love it? Sister is Violet - it doesn't really 'go', does it?

What are your opinions? Smile

Buntys - snap! My first boyfriend's name too so can't use it either! It was nearly my brother's name too.

It's a fab name - know of a couple both about age of 10! Better that being one of multiple of the fashionable names in a class imo.

Siblings don't need to match re names - they'll not always live together or be addressed together.

I think it is a good name, has a good nickname and is solid enough for a grown-up. Disagree with male names being cutesy and all, because children grow up you know. Go with it!

Timeless and sensible. I didn't like it until I was an adult because of a couple of horrible ones when I was a kid, but I got to like it later after meeting some nicer ones. I like Mike best for short but Michael in full is fine too.

The only minor problem is most children, and quite a few adults, can't spell it. In a past job I had to fill in medication forms for someone called Michael quite often, and without fail, the last person to have done it before me would have written "Micheal." You'd just have to train him to spot mistakes and remind people as soon as he could spell at all!

I think it is very dull, and I have to say I don't like Mick either. Having said that, due to the amount of Michaels in my family I would use it as a middle name as a mark of respect.

I love it as a name and think 'Violet and Michael' sounds nice together, personally... We've had a couple of Michaels at school in recent years and both were lovely boys...

I have a 2 year old Michael, who goes by mick or mickey. It wasn't my choice he's named after DFIL and I don't love it but I do love mick and it suits him.

I love it and don't find it remotely dull, but then I do think that most of the names (of both genders) that have been ultra trendy in the last few years are unbearably naff and feeble-sounding.

Beautiful biblical name. I don't like mike though.

I like it a lot. I think Michael is only considered dull because it's not fashionable. It's due a revival.

Really like Michael and it goes well with Violet. However I dislike the nn 'Mike' which more than likely the name would be shortened too. That's the reason I'm not using it as a name. However if Mike doesn't bother you, then I think it's a great name.,
