Baby girl is 4 weeks old. We love Autumn Wren. Is it just too 'Yankee'? Sad

I love both names individually but I'm not keen on two nature names together. I think it would be better if one name was just a name, rather than a word with a meaning, iyswim.

But I don't think its an awful combination that will scar your child for life or anything Smile.

Soubriquet · 05/01/2017 20:03

December is Winter Grin

But it doesn't matter anyway. Autumn is a nice name

LovedByAll · 05/01/2017 20:04

Actually you're incorrect Smile winter isn't until the end of December Grin

It's too descriptive. Autumn wren. Winter robin. Spring sparrow. Summer starling...

Uiscebeatha85 · 05/01/2017 20:06

Erm December is winter ConfusedConfusedConfused

rexthedog · 05/01/2017 20:07

Winter starts on the 21st of December. Google says so

LovedByAll · 05/01/2017 20:08

Yes December 21st was when winter started. She was born way before then. Please educate yourself before trying to make a point!

It's lovely and it would just be Autumn really.

goodbeans · 05/01/2017 20:10

I really love it! And I am generally one for traditional names. But as pp have noted, December is meteorological winter. Early December does qualify as astronomical autumn though www.metoffice.gov.uk/learning/learn-about-the-weather/how-weather-works/seasons/winter/when-does-winter-start

OutnumberedByFurchesters · 05/01/2017 20:12

I like the names separately. Not together.

Kids find out middle names as a curiosity/asking and comparing and by seeing it written down... once they knew she was "Autumn Wren" i dont think it'd be soon forgotten and she'd be teased regularly, sorry.

Glitterous · 05/01/2017 20:12

I can see why season names are attractive to people but season names followed by something nature related always brings up the image of a scented candle for me, whereas something like Autumn Jean doesn't

ElspethFlashman · 05/01/2017 20:13

Cool your jets OP. She's gonna get a lifetime of people having this exact conversation with her, after all.

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 05/01/2017 20:14

Gorgeous! Really love the combination!

user1480267413 · 05/01/2017 20:14

Poor child!! Have you considered Summer Seaweed? Winter Walnut? Spring Wallpaper? Please don't set her up for the teasing and embarrassment. So unfair.

LovedByAll · 05/01/2017 20:14

Autumn Violet was our other choice, but would like to save Violet for a future child (if we happen to have a second daughter).

LovedByAll · 05/01/2017 20:15

user - not sure if you're aware that Wren is actually used as a name. I'm pretty sure there is no one called Wallpaper, what an odd comment Hmm

WellErrr · 05/01/2017 20:16

Sounds like a paint.

mirren3 · 05/01/2017 20:20

I love it, if I'd had a daughter we would have used Wren as a first name. When I had DS 3 we used it as his middle name. Anyway how often do you need to give your full name out.

Randonneur · 05/01/2017 20:21

Autumn Gwen?

WellErrr · 05/01/2017 20:21

Oooh Shaida's own house is nice.

WellErrr · 05/01/2017 20:21

Haha wrong thread!!

Glitterous · 05/01/2017 20:24

Violet is my dd's middle name. I wish I'd used it as her first name or saved it Sad

EwanWhosearmy · 05/01/2017 20:25

I love it.

Shadowboy · 05/01/2017 20:26

We considered this combination nearly 3 years ago (did go with Autumn though) but decided that on application forms and in adult life it was too twee and could be embarrassing. We imagined applying for a top end job and while most are not prejudiced there may be a few who with form opinions before meeting her so we went for a different (still nature based) middle name. Go for it though if YOU like it and think it suits your baby.
