Blossom or Lyra?

We have liked both names for a while... Lyra from the Pullman books and Blossom from a song we both like. Now not sure what to do as this is baby number 4 and definitely the last!

Do you know any Blossom's or Lyra's? Do you think they are popular names? Advice on them appreciated. Thanks!

Lyra! Blossom is definitely more of a cow's name, sorry.

reuset · 03/01/2017 17:30

Lyra, preferably, just. Would you like to be called Blossom yourself, seriously? It's so fluffy and weak-sounding.

newroundhere · 03/01/2017 17:32

MarjorySunshineDust Hahaha - I'm not at all up to speed with these new fangled ponies Grin

I think Lyra is a lovely name. Congrats!

reuset · 03/01/2017 17:32

Blossom for some reason makes me think of Bosoms and cows

I read it as Bosom at first. Not good Grin

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 03/01/2017 17:34

Love Lyra.

HelsBels5000 · 03/01/2017 17:35

But on first glance I saw Lycra sorry Blush off to get eyes tested......

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/01/2017 19:10

Really like Lyra. Lyra Blossom !

Nonameyet1 · 03/01/2017 20:26

I agree with others. Lyra gets my vote.

BratFarrarsPony · 03/01/2017 20:27

Blossom sounds like a dairy cow - just dreadful for a human child.
So Lyra then.

KERALA1 · 03/01/2017 20:35

Blossom is a stripper name - sorry

MidsummersNight · 03/01/2017 20:36

Both awful.

Lyra just sounds like Lycra???

buttercup54321 · 03/01/2017 20:46

Lyra. Definitely not Blossom . What about Lilah?

Pluto30 · 03/01/2017 21:05

Unless your child is a Boston Terrier, do not name them Blossom. It's hideous.

Lyra by default.

CactusFred · 03/01/2017 21:22

Lyra!
Blossom is the name of a pony.

Motherfuckers · 03/01/2017 21:25

Blossom always reminds me of bosom too. It is quite an ugly sounding word. The actor that played little Mo called her baby Blossom.

rainbow99 · 03/01/2017 21:38

Lyra

Raines100 · 03/01/2017 22:27

Lyra is a gorgeous name. I know it didn't get much love on a previous thread, but it is beautiful.

Blossom is bloody awful Grin

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/01/2017 18:51

Blossom sounds fat to me.
And maybe a bit too redolent of Bosom and Bottom!

SchnitzelVonMum · 04/01/2017 23:05

Lyra (I have a little Lyra). On every Lyra thread at least one poster says 'sounds like lycra'. If there's a thread discussing the name Lyra I have to read it until I see that comment, something strangely comforting about it.

AbernathysFringe · 04/01/2017 23:39

I like Lyra because it's like lyre. I like Blossom because 80s show.
The pretty, fiesty girl who plays Jamillah in cbbc Jamillah and Aladdin is a Blossom.

Mamatallica · 05/01/2017 00:00

I love Lyra, it was on my girls list but we got a boy so will never have to hear my family's opinion on Lyra I'm thinking it wouldn't go down too well, they are very traditional and easily confused.

Marcipex · 05/01/2017 03:43

I can't honestly say I like Blossom. Fleur and Flora are nicer.

I would like Lyra if it wasn't so close to liar. I guess it works better in other languages.

1horatio · 05/01/2017 06:14

Marci

Flora is a beautiful name. :)

Florrieboo · 05/01/2017 06:26

Lyra, it's unusual without being "weird" and is also the name of a MLP :-)

marmitecrumpets · 05/01/2017 06:41

Lyra
