Which do you prefer? Surname is very common - Jones.

poppy is also a really common name. Maisie is better, what's it short for?

Rollonbedtime7pm · 13/12/2016 16:56

I don't know why but I just really dislike Poppy! Think it sounds more like a nn than a full name.

It's very popular too which always puts me off! Grin

I think Maisie comes from Margaret or Mairead. I don't like Margaret very much but like Mairead

I think poppy is more of a pet's name..
Maisie is cute Smile

user1471461752 · 13/12/2016 17:00

Maisie is much nicer.

DaysLikeThis1 · 13/12/2016 17:13

I really like Maisie and think it sounds good with your surname.

Sophronia · 13/12/2016 18:24

Maisie

Pluto30 · 13/12/2016 20:09

I prefer Poppy.

Maisie, to me, is always going to be a mouse. I love Daisy though.

SillyBub · 13/12/2016 20:13

Most helpful response of the thread coming right up.....

I know twins called Poppy and Maisie.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/12/2016 20:14

Maisie

1horatio · 13/12/2016 20:51

I like Poppy. But I think there might be less Maisies around?

I really like Mairead.

IJustWantABrew · 13/12/2016 21:02

Maisie makes me think of a mouse. I like poopy tho :)

IJustWantABrew · 13/12/2016 21:03

PoPPY not poopy Blush

Secretspillernamechange · 13/12/2016 21:07

Maisie Smile top of my list of names.

Gruffalosfriend · 13/12/2016 22:17

Both are very cutesy and childish sounding. I like Mairead though

LotsoNumbers · 13/12/2016 22:22

They're equally unimaginative

HearTheThunderRoar · 13/12/2016 23:16

I like Maisie better.

LucyBabs · 13/12/2016 23:21

My reason for not picking similar names to your choices, is these babies and toddlers will be adults one day.
Poppy as an adults name sounds ridiculous

SuburbanRhonda · 13/12/2016 23:24

We have lots of Maisies in our school. I would consider it more popular than Poppy, which seems to have had its moment, thank goodness.

CakeRattleandRoll · 14/12/2016 00:36

Maisie

17caterpillars1mouse · 14/12/2016 08:41

Maisie I know tons of Poppy's and only one Maisie

SkyLucy · 14/12/2016 08:44

Maisie Jones is lovely!

SausageSoda · 14/12/2016 09:22

Maisie is nice and goes better with your surname I think.

HappyMummy08 · 14/12/2016 14:12

I am utterly offended at peoples reactions to 'Poppy'. When my husband and named our little girl Poppy, neither of us knew a single person (or PET) named Poppy! Poppy wouldn't sound any more ridiculous on an elderly lady than Lily, Rose etc. It is a flower for pete's sake!

I love BOTH name choices, don't allow the cruel comments of others to cloud your own judgement :)

Gruffalosfriend · 14/12/2016 14:28

Thankfully we all have different opinions Smile. You really shouldn't get offended because people don't like the name Poppy. No name will be universally liked and it would be boring if it did!
