WDYT of Courtney??

As I'm going through some lists (I tend to like more "dated" and typical, boring names for Britain it seems??) I keep coming across names that I'm not entirely sure on, so I'm very sorry in advance if I end up posting again about another name ! (I think this should be my last one for now though !)

What do you think of the name Courtney?? I don't really know any, so I don't have any associations with the name - is it a good choice or is it too dated ??

If it helps, some other names I like are Bethan, Megan, Millie, Martha, Maisie, Claire, Rosie, Georgina and Kelly.

Thank you!

Awful, sorry. And not to be rude yo anyone but chavvy.
To give opinions on your other names.
Bethan is nice and Beth is very classy.
I love Megan but can't use it.
I usually like sweet and twee names but I can't abide Millie or Maisie. Probably because I'm tripping over them
Martha is very harsh.
I'm a Claire well Clare. I can't stand my name, but I think it would sound retro vintage and refreshing in a class room full of Islas, Lili-Mais Ruby's ect.
I don't like Rosie. Rosa Rose are beautiful and classic.

I'm not thrilled about Georgina. Georgia's nice though.
Kelly see Claire.

Sophronia · 09/11/2016 12:59

It's a bit 90s. I prefer Bethan, Martha, Rosie and Georgina from your list.

livinglooney8 · 09/11/2016 13:03

It's a but dated but i like it, also like Georgina from your list.

teachergirl2011 · 09/11/2016 13:04

No its chavvy x

midsomermurderess · 09/11/2016 13:04

I don't mind it at all.

Jojo13 · 09/11/2016 13:05

My sister is a Courtney, she's 28 now so the name was very uncommon when it was chosen for her. Got a few raised eyebrows at the time!
It's obviously a lot more popular now, but still reasonably unusual I guess. Wouldn't really know if it was classed as a chavvy name or not really, I've always really liked it. The only thing she doesn't like about it is when it gets shortened to "Court" which happened at school mostly.
I don't know any other Courtney's, nor do I hear of it much.

Joinourclub · 09/11/2016 13:06

Baaaaaaaad. Much worse than anything else on your list.

ByeByeLilSebastian · 09/11/2016 13:07

I really don't like it.

I do like Meghan, Rosie and Georgina from your list though.

midsomermurderess · 09/11/2016 13:08

Oh, do stop with 'chavvy', what an ignorant thing to say Just who do you think you are to say that about people?

CanandWill · 09/11/2016 13:13

^ what midsomer said^

If you don't like it just say so but please don't call a name 'chavvy, trashy or trailer trash'. It is incredibly rude to the OP and insulting to others who may have that as their name or a dc with that name.

DurhamDurham · 09/11/2016 13:22

I think it's a lovely name, equally suitable for girls and boys.

Enidblyton1 · 09/11/2016 13:30

A few years back I would have said no to Courtney. But I actually quite like it now.
I have a horror of all the really common, twee names around at the moment. Courtney is so much cooler than being yet another Evie, Isla, Ava etc

SittingDrinkingTea · 09/11/2016 13:31

Courtney is a bit dated and '90s, and from your list Kelly is the same but '80s. The rest are nice though, I especially like Bethan.

Chinlo · 09/11/2016 13:36

It's a bit... Like... the name of somebody who displays brash and loutish behaviour, you know? Somebody who wears a lot of burberry print and drives a suped up vauxhall nova and drinks canned cider and wears big gold jewellery and hoop earrings and signet rings and baseball caps pointed to the sky, and stuff like that.

I can't think of a word to describe it, but that kind of person, you know?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/11/2016 15:55

I love Maisie.

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 09/11/2016 15:58

I like it, it's my nieces name, I've never considered it "chavvy". Hmm

If you love it, then use it.

namechangedjustforthis · 09/11/2016 16:02

My daughter is called Courtney, she hates her name, says no one would ever take her seriously with a name like that. You'd see a stripper with that name but not a lawyer :-O I however think that's daft just thought I'd let you know what she thinks of it now she's an adult (just)

EllenDegenerate · 09/11/2016 20:39

Chinlo you think Courtney sounds like a lower working class teenager who has been teleported here from the late 1990s?

That's very specific.

Crunchymum · 09/11/2016 20:43

Too American for me I'm afraid.

busyrascal · 09/11/2016 20:45

Makes me think of Eastenders.

Chinlo · 09/11/2016 20:48

Chinlo you think Courtney sounds like a lower working class teenager who has been teleported here from the late 1990s?

You mean they don't drive novas any more? Shock

eyebrowsonfleek · 09/11/2016 20:50

Kourtney Kardashian (and Courtney Love) would put me off the name Courtney.

EllenDegenerate · 09/11/2016 21:07

I didn't even know that a nova was an actual car (was it?). I thought you were being creative with your description of a corsa/fiesta tbh.

SorenaJ · 09/11/2016 21:25

I'm not too fond of Courtney, but love Maisie, Martha and Claire. Maybe Camilla with nn Millie?
