I have always loved this name, it would be shortened to Minty. Thoughts?

I dont want to be pedantic but wouldnt it be spelt 'Araminta'?
I like Minty or Mint as a nn but it depends where you will be living tbh.

Longdistance · 06/11/2016 16:00

Love it.

It reminds me of a children's program I used to watch in the 80's. Can't for the life of me remember what it was called, but loved her name.

PaperdollCartoon · 06/11/2016 16:01

I love it and would use it! It's spelt Araminta though, only one r

SuperManStoleMyPants · 06/11/2016 16:02

Yup only meant to be one r. My phone is having a bit of a paddy of late with touch sensitivity.

I love it, but i do think it depends where you will be living like previous poster.

Greenifer · 06/11/2016 16:02

Definitely Araminta (and I love it). I have a friend with a sister called this (Minta for short).

BendydickCuminsnatch · 06/11/2016 16:04

I went to nursery with an Araminta, nn Minty :) She was bright blonde so it suited her. The only other Araminta I've known was a pig who was made into delicious sausages. I like the name but because of that it feels a bit porcine to me! Love Minty actually, cute!

SuperManStoleMyPants · 06/11/2016 16:04

I live in London.

It's one of my favourite names but I can't stand Minty

Madbengalmum · 06/11/2016 16:58

then go for it.

legotits · 06/11/2016 17:00

Love it.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/11/2016 18:01

Yep, go for it. 😄

PoldarksBreeches · 06/11/2016 18:04

Oh no it's awful! 80s posho.

GinIsIn · 06/11/2016 18:12

I love it, largely because of the book 'Moondial'! Grin

legotits · 06/11/2016 19:12

Me too Fen Grin

Pluto30 · 06/11/2016 19:22

I don't like it. Very OTT. And I hate Minty.

SuperManStoleMyPants · 06/11/2016 19:54

I've never heard of Moondial, I'll have to look it up.

GinIsIn · 06/11/2016 19:56

It's a book by Helen Cresswell, and was also a children's tv series in about 1989. Both were fab!

GinIsIn · 06/11/2016 19:57

Be warned - it's quite sad though!

RiverTam · 06/11/2016 20:02

Minty sounds like a Sloane ranger boarding school gal with swishy blond hair, probably not the brightest spark. Works in a posh shop and lives in a central London flat paid for by Mummy and Daddy.

Really not keen (in case you hadn't guessed!)

Ledehe · 06/11/2016 20:04

This reminds me of the Janet and Roy thread......

user1478450549 · 06/11/2016 20:05

It's very sloany. She'll need a velvet alice band and some pearls to wear in her range rover!

Ohyesiam · 06/11/2016 20:08

Cute, infact for some reason I occasionally call my daughter that!

Baylisiana · 06/11/2016 20:15

Love this name. Shame it does have some Sloaney associations but maybe they will fade soon.

Normandy144 · 06/11/2016 20:28

Love it, very pretty. And Minty is cute, but I prefer Araminta in full so would use that.
