Winston, basil or hank?

The title says it all. Ds2 is 4 days old and we don't have a name. I'm too tired to make decisions anymore! Dh's suggestions are,

Winston
Basil
Hank

Or are they all terrible?

Personally, I don't like any of them - sorry.
Would choose Winston if I had to have one of the three. Congratulations on the birth of your son!

LolaStarr · 02/11/2016 04:52

Honestly? I don't like any. Winston is the best of a bad bunch. Sorry!

Cockblocktopus · 02/11/2016 04:53

Yes. Terrible.

Winston the best of a bad lot.

Foxtato · 02/11/2016 04:56

I wouldn't choose any. If I had to choose then Winston. The other 2 are awful and Winston is 'ok'.

Pluto30 · 02/11/2016 05:21
  1. English Bulldog
  2. Fawlty
  3. American

None of them are great. Winston is the best of the bunch though. I know two human Winstons, so it seems workable.

Basil is the worst. It's Basil Fawlty or Basil the pet. It was a name we strongly considered for our beagle.

Karlakitten1 · 02/11/2016 05:27

Sorry, all sound like dog names to me. Esp Basil.

AppleCanoe · 02/11/2016 05:38

Winston is fine and I think Basil is cute! Mm Baz.

NotYoda · 02/11/2016 05:56

Winston just about passes, but neither of the others

NotYoda · 02/11/2016 05:56

What about Leonard/Lennie?

BertrandRussell · 02/11/2016 06:02

Never use a name that's one easy letter change away from something rude.

In the current political climate people might think Winston is a statement.

Which leaves Basil. Which is OK. If wet.

stonygreysoil · 02/11/2016 06:20

sorry, none of them are great..Winston the least bad.

Instead of them, how about..

Tristan , Ezra or Frank?

mymilkshakes00 · 02/11/2016 06:23

Winston is nice.

GazingAtStars · 02/11/2016 06:51

They're all horrible I'm afraid tiredness is clouding your judgement!

lalaloopyhead · 02/11/2016 07:00

I'm sorry but when I saw the title I was surprised this was a baby names thread and not a pet one. Great pet names but I don't think they are nice for a child at all.

Ankleswingers · 02/11/2016 07:06

Grin Pluto30

All terrible IMO op, sorry.

Really bad. I'm not sure if you are joking.

icantgetnosleep5 · 02/11/2016 07:32

IMO Winston is the only usable option!

MackerelOfFact · 02/11/2016 07:34

I know a Winston but he goes by Stan, which I think is all you need to know about the name.

They all sound like names for a pet, sorry.

ThoraGruntwhistle · 02/11/2016 07:37

They're not to my taste at all, sorry. They'd be lovely on a pet but not a baby.

Loyly · 02/11/2016 07:39

I'm really sorry I can't find one that I like in Winston, Basil or Hank.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 02/11/2016 07:41

I don't mind Basil - I think of Brambly Hedge or Jilly Cooper.

SpareRoomChaos · 02/11/2016 07:49

For that 'older gent' theme, how about Stanley, Frederick, Wilfred (nn Freddie) or Edward (nn Eddy)?

For 'Hank' maybe Harry or Henry with the nickname Hank? (Possibly used by your husband alone because it's pretty terrible).

Hand, wank, hanky. It's basically just male masturbation in a name. Sorry Hanks.

LeonardaCohen · 02/11/2016 07:59

Ha, brilliant responses. Thanks! Back to the drawing board... Once I've had some sleep!

Get some sleep and come back to this thread- hopefully we can fill it up with more likely options.
