Just that really!

I think it's quite old fashioned but not awful..

mummytobeforbabyno1 · 01/11/2016 13:10

I really like it. I do like more old fashioned names and they are all slowly coming back round. Don't hear it often now.

neady · 01/11/2016 13:11

I've always loved it but could never use it because our local accent means it would be pronounced as Root - could not inflict that on the child Smile

Elllicam · 01/11/2016 13:11

I like it :)

ChadSexington · 01/11/2016 13:12

Why, I think it's utterly fabulous Grin

I was the only one in both my primary and secondary schools. These were in South London by the way, so I was known as Roof. Something to bear in mind perhaps. I didn't like it at all as a kid, but it has grown on me now.

ThomasHardyPerennial · 01/11/2016 13:13

It's a lovely name!

BusterGonad · 01/11/2016 13:24

I don't love it hate it. It's a bit 'beige'!

Jackie0 · 01/11/2016 13:25

I'd think you were religious

brightnearly · 01/11/2016 13:28

It looks lovely, it sounds a little bit harsh though.

HarrietVane99 · 01/11/2016 13:32

I like it. It's a bit different, without being too 'out there'. It's a serious grown up name, too - passes the Prime Minister test.

I wouldn't think it was religious - no more so than Rachel or Rebecca or Naomi or all the other Biblical names that have been popular.

Soubriquet · 01/11/2016 13:34

I like it.

NameChange30 · 01/11/2016 13:36

I don't like it even though I have a lovely friend with the name.

French speakers pronounce it "Root" as well, which has probably contributed to putting me off the name, as it's such an ugly pronunciation! It might be the same in other accents and languages too - which could be a consideration if you want a name that travels well.

groovygreenwichgirl · 01/11/2016 13:40

I think its lovely. A real classic that won't go out of fashion.

saintava · 01/11/2016 13:42

It's my middle name. I like it more now than I did when I was younger. I now use just my first and middle name on Facebook so I see it a fair bit too

Helpisathand13 · 01/11/2016 13:42

Think it is a lovely name

SpecialStains · 01/11/2016 13:43

It was on my baby name list (I had a boy).

I liked it because it's a solid, biblical name and it's not cutesy (doesn't end in -belle or -ie or -y). Also, it's not too common, but the Ruth's I've know have all been very nice people! It's not dated and I think it has a nice sound to it.

CaoNiMao · 01/11/2016 13:53

I've always loved the name Ruth. I know several lovely Ruths.

Nicnac81 · 01/11/2016 13:55

I know a couple of Ruth's, it is a lovely old fashioned name ( which I love... my little one is martha)

nicky2512 · 01/11/2016 13:58

Love it. It is my dds middle name.

DiegeticMuch · 01/11/2016 14:05

Every Ruth I've known has been great, and I like biblical names normally, but this name is on my irrational dislike list. No idea why.

I think it's lovely, it makes a great middle name too.

TheCompanyOfCats · 01/11/2016 14:56

Weirdly, every single Ruth I've ever known has been a butch lesbian. So that's what I associate with it but I appreciate that this is probably just the Ruths that I know Grin

DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 01/11/2016 15:57

A strong classic.

DramaAlpaca · 01/11/2016 16:02

I'm going to be completely honest & say that I don't like it. It's not awful, but it doesn't appeal to me at all.
