Just that really!

I really don't like it. Don't like Martha either. Perhaps its the th sound, I don't know anyone called either name.

SinglePringle · 01/11/2016 16:05

I too am going to be honest and say I find it a very dull name. Makes me think of the words drab, droopy and boring.

hearthwitch · 01/11/2016 16:06

a beautiful classic name. but i'm biased as its my DSIS name

SausageSoda · 01/11/2016 16:08

It's inoffensive but a bit bland in my opinion.

MistressMolecules · 01/11/2016 16:14

I think it is a lovey name, not overly used either so the child won't be in class with another 5!

Icapturethecast1e · 01/11/2016 16:16

The name Ruth I would associate with someone whose pleasent & happy. Simple, classic name. I wouldn't worry about mispronounciation there are far more complicated names out there.

EdenFalls2016 · 01/11/2016 16:24

I don't like it, sorry...

maloryt0wers · 01/11/2016 16:29

I think it's lovely. It was on my list but DH wasn't keen because of the "roof" dialect locally, which is why it got crossed off.

Ilovenannyplum · 01/11/2016 16:32

I don't like it, sorry Blush

hawkmcqueen · 01/11/2016 16:34

I really dislike it. I met a baby Ruth last year and I could only wonder why such a gorgeous baby was named Ruth. Sorry but just my opinion but Ruth is such a little, abrupt name.

NauticalDisaster · 01/11/2016 16:35

It's quite a boring name, very middle of the road.

user1471461752 · 01/11/2016 16:36

I really don't like it. There are so many lovely names out there but Ruth is definitely not one of them.

CoraPirbright · 01/11/2016 16:53

Don't like it, sorry. To my mind its like Joan - v plain and old-fashioned-but-not-in-a-good-way.

They had it on 'Friends' when Rachel was pregnant. Ross suggested it and Rachel said something like "Oh, I'm sorry - are we having an 80 year old woman?!"!!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/11/2016 17:58

Beautiful and timeless name 😀

stonygreysoil · 02/11/2016 06:49

timeless, packs a lot into a long ending single syllable- so works best with a surname starting with a vowel.

Probably will get another wave of popularity one of these days.

OrlandaFuriosa · 02/11/2016 06:54

I absolutely love it, great sound, great meaning, beautiful story in exquisite language in the Bible, have only ever known nice Ruths.

My only other connection is with Nancy Blackett, in Swallows and Amazons, who called herself Nancy because she was a pirate and pirates are Ruthless Grin

HardcoreLadyType · 02/11/2016 06:54

I have a couple of family members with this name.

I love it - simple and elegant.

However, as PP have mentioned, you might want to consider how the "th" sound is pronounced in various accents, and if that is likely to be a big issue for your DD.

Loafingaround · 02/11/2016 08:06

Don't like it, very ordinary/plain and sounds quite harsh when pronounced.

treaclesoda · 02/11/2016 08:08

I love it. It's beautiful and classic and there are very few little Ruths running around.

RiverTam · 02/11/2016 08:13

Dull
Religious

Nospringflower · 02/11/2016 08:20

Not keen and just sounds old fashioned rather than classic. Not even granny chic! Nothing. It's bad.

ruthietoothie · 02/11/2016 19:35

I'm a ruth and have always loved it as a name. Simple, not too common but not mega rare too.

Barnes79 · 02/11/2016 19:53

I like it - it's on my short list. Classic and not overused.

RebelRogue · 02/11/2016 20:05

Frist thing i thought about...and giggled

RebelandaStunner · 02/11/2016 20:09

It's very boring.
