Margot. Margaux makes me think of the wine!

Margot
Margaux will give a lifetime of spelling her name out

PberryT · 31/10/2016 07:12

Margaux looks like a food mixer.

I have a Margot. The other spelling also makes me think of wine !

Showgirl109 · 31/10/2016 07:15

I like Margaux. But it is a difficult spelling and people will ask if she's named after the wine. I know a Margaux who loves it!

MrsBellefleur · 31/10/2016 07:16

Margot.

You do know Margaux is a wine, don't you?

AmberEars · 31/10/2016 07:17

Margot

KirstyinNorway · 31/10/2016 07:18

Margaux reminds me of gateaux. Definitely Margot.

Barefootcontessa84 · 31/10/2016 07:18

Margot- Margaux is a wine - Margaux Hemingway was an alcoholic who supposedly ironically changed her name to spell it like the wine- she ended up committing suicide, so not the best association.

Margot is pronounced Mar-got (with the t) in Germany and other Germanic languages.

Margaux is obviously French so will always be pronounced Mar-go.

annabelw11 · 31/10/2016 07:52

Thanks... seems like Margot the preferred choice :-)

Was just a bit concerned when a couple of friends (Spanish and German) pronounced it Mar-gott... oh dear!

Also Margaux a very popular girls name in France, originally a shortened form of Marguerite, just like Margot.

Anyway, I'm sure you're right and Margot is safer

But Margot is a normal German name, pronounced Mar-gott. It isn't wrong.

badtime · 31/10/2016 08:14

Why not Margo (like Margo Leadbetter)?

Zhabr · 31/10/2016 08:55

La Reine Margot- my favourite book (and film). Wonderful actors...
