Lucien nn Lulu (Lucien pronounced with a soft c like Lucy, not ch as in Italian like Luciano).

Lulu would probably only last though childhood.

Not expecting currently, just thinking for the future.

We called our cousin's son Lou-Lou (Louis) when we were young. My cousin hates it, and I must admit that whenever they call Louis Walsh Lou-Lou on x-factor I feel a bit sick.

OlennasWimple · 27/10/2016 02:24

No

Chottie · 27/10/2016 02:27

Just no x 1000 times

NC1nightstand · 27/10/2016 02:33

No, it's just too girly. I mean it's fantastically girly and I'm all for challenging gender stereotypes but not at the cost of the child. Very cute when your little Angel is a baby but by the time he is in school it could well be a hindrance. What about Luca?

CrazyGreyhoundLady · 27/10/2016 02:37

Lucien is a fantastic name, love it! But saying that I think calling him lulu could easily end up causing far more trouble than it's worth. Especially imagine if someone from his school heard you call him it. Kids can be mean, no point giving them ammunition if you can avoid it

Umm no.

maisybobbins · 27/10/2016 02:57

Don't be daft.

sycamore54321 · 27/10/2016 03:02

Not a fan but if you have to, at least try to write it with an 'o' - Lou. Or use a single syllable. Lulu just makes me think of the singer and the cloying perfume popular with ladies of a certain age (although maybe that is spelt Lou, I don't know).

Lou or Luca both would be better shortenings from Lucien in my opinion.

eyebrowsonfleek · 27/10/2016 03:11

Lou (Lu) would be fine but LuLu sounds like a shortening of a female name like Louise which isn't ideal.

purplefox · 27/10/2016 03:16

Lucien is fine, Lulu is not.

TallulahTheTiger · 27/10/2016 03:18

Sorry but makes me think of a Pomeranian!

Kiwiinkits · 27/10/2016 03:36

Nope.

Middleoftheroad · 27/10/2016 04:07

Makes me think of Ab Fab sorry!

flumpybear · 27/10/2016 04:08

My 4yo DS calls his willy lulu ... so no!! Lucien is lovely

FixItUpChappie · 27/10/2016 04:16

Lucien is great, Lulu - no and nooo.

Meeep · 27/10/2016 04:45

Lu is fine but Lulu just isn't.

IDismyname · 27/10/2016 05:40

No. Just no.

Confusednotcom · 27/10/2016 05:49

Love Lucien for a boy. Lulu is a girls name.

ThisIsReallyNotMyName · 27/10/2016 06:01

No, no, no.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 27/10/2016 07:01

I'm surprised people are so strongly 'no', as this is the kind of thing that would just automatically come out of my mouth (for my own kid I mean). Was thinking about the name Lucas, he'd probably get Lulu, Lu, Lubadoo, Lubedoobedoo, Lukie etc.

But no I wouldn't introduce him as Lulu, would OP?

Only1scoop · 27/10/2016 07:06

Awful like that old Harry Enfield babies sketch

SorenaJ · 27/10/2016 07:53

I'm not too fond of the name Lulu (for any gender), maybe Lou as a nn could be an alternative?

NashvilleQueen · 27/10/2016 07:56

Lucien was a choice of mine had I had a boy so it's a big yes from me. But not Lulu as a nickname I'm afraid

milkysmum · 27/10/2016 07:56

No sorry it's not good
