James or Samuel?

I'm 32 weeks with baby number 1, we don't know gender but have finally settled on a girl's name. For a boy we are torn between these two, which would you pick and why?

James. Mainly cos I just don't like the name Samuel. Sorry!

Depends on surname / initials, also if you like "Sam" or "J" as they will get shortened. (The James that I know is often called Jim-Jam)

I'd have to say Samuel....but then I am slightly biased

James (biased). Ours is generally known as JD (also using middle initial)

Samuel. James is traditional in a boring way whereas Samuel is traditional in a cool way.

Samuel is lovely. I do like James, but know so many it's put me off a little.

My cousin is called Samuel James, I prefer James though but could be because I'm not keen on my cousin

Love both but I do have a son called Samuel Aaron Matthew so his initials are Sam xx
