Running out of time.. Have gone off all the boys names in the world it would seem! (I didn't have this problem with my others)
My favourite brother is called Kye, am now contemplating calling the baby tht, even though I dnt love the name in itself.
I wanted something solid, perhaps traditional /biblical. Just something tht won't get him teased in his teenage years and that would suit a man.

bangs head against wall !

Any opinions on Kye or name suggestions would be Greatly appreciated 😊

Joseph?

Sierra259 · 11/10/2016 07:19

Really not keen on Kye, sorry. I've never seen it spelt that way either, is it pronounced like Kai?

Do you have a particular style of names that you like? Traditional, more unusual? Anything that you really dislike so we know what to avoid?

MotherDuckSaid · 11/10/2016 07:21

I really like Joseph, but really hate Joe! Which has put me off Jonah too,
Dislike the shortened version of Robert, Christopher, Samuel, Hugo

I'm just a pain in th a*se really!

I liked Hugo for a long time, but my youngest child is called Margot and I'm concerned i might sound like I'm calling a pair of corgis in the park ?!

So any suggestions along those lines would be great too 😊

Ezra or Eden? Both biblical.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 11/10/2016 07:45

I wouldn't say Kye was a solid name, but. That's just my perception.
I've honestly never known anyone to be teased for their name. Now obviously there are always exceptions to rules. A boy named Sophia-Rose would probably not have the best of times.
Name suggestions.
Arthur
Cain
Matthew
Luke
Rueben
Noah
David
Jacob
Gabriel
Caleb
Simon
Peter
John

Thenorr · 11/10/2016 07:48

If you like Kye, what about the very biblical name Malachi? (Or Malachy for the English spelling) - it's one of my favourites and shortens to Kye with other alternatives too...

SoupDragon · 11/10/2016 07:49

The team sheet for DSs rugby team, removing the foreign names:
Samuel
Thomas
Joshua
Connor
Joseph
Sebastian
Matthew
Ralph
Luke
Jack
Toby
James
Graham
Louis
William
Miles
Caleb
Alexander
Dominic
Paul
Mark
Laurence
Brendan
Hugo
Christopher

A few surprises in there for me. They are all around 18.

gunting · 11/10/2016 07:52

My son is called Joel which I think is biblical and not too common

Pipilangstrumpf · 11/10/2016 08:04

I like the suggestion of Malachi with nickname Kye.

Also agree that kids generally don't get teased for their names, so choose a name you love and that goes with your surname.

katemess12 · 11/10/2016 08:06

David?

Very Biblical, not super likely to be shortened (the ones I know are all David, not Dave), and not at all common nowadays.

Others:

  • James
  • Andrew
  • Jacob
  • John (or Jonathan - with Jonty as a nn)
  • Luke
  • Reuben
  • Simon
neonrainbow · 11/10/2016 08:09

Elias?

CinnamonTwist · 11/10/2016 08:12

I know a grown man called Rupert and it suits him very well, he's a very well spoken 'well to do' man. TBH I think it suits a man more than a child - but I don't know any child Ruperts! Whatever name you pick will grow with them as they grow.
