I like Fleur a lot.

Loyly · 09/10/2016 21:45

Manon is my favourite from your list.

Cathaka15 · 09/10/2016 21:45

I like frankie the best.

WeArePregnant11 · 09/10/2016 21:46

I love Fleur, Flora and Susanna. I personally really don't like the other options (especially Manon).

lolalament · 09/10/2016 21:48

Your surname is a colour. So your child will end up being called "green flower".

Ilovewillow · 09/10/2016 21:50

I love Fleur and Flora - both of which were on my list until he proved to be a boy! Beautiful names!

GoldPlatedBacon · 09/10/2016 21:50

Fleur is lovely but it surely must be a no with a colour surname Confused

I would go with Manon

EvansAndThePrince · 09/10/2016 21:52

If the name is Green then the first few don't work at all as PP said. All beautiful names by themselves though l, so if it's Brown they might be fine!

WeArePregnant11 · 09/10/2016 21:54

What's so bad about Flora Green? Or Fleur Green?

Maybe not Daisy Green (that sounds like a paint colour, tbh...)

gettingtherequickly · 09/10/2016 21:56

Please don't use Fleur if your in the north, it sounds awful with a northern accent.

PaperdollCartoon · 09/10/2016 21:59

Fleur sounds like coughing something up. Like bleugh. Flora and Daisy both much better.

HoratioNightboy · 09/10/2016 22:00

Could be Gray, Black, White, Brown, Green...

I think two or more syllables would go best with a short surname, so not Fleur. I like Susanna best from your list.

EvansAndThePrince · 09/10/2016 22:01

I think Fleur Green didn't work in my head because I'm Scottish and Fleur sounds like the way lots of Scots say flower anyway so flower green isn't right (in my own wee heed Wink not to say it doesn't work elsewhere or in someone else's!)

jessica29054 · 09/10/2016 22:04

Flora is gorgeous. Daisy is quite pretty.

Fleur has a lovely meaning but I just don't like it as a sound. Manon and frankie aren't names I'm keen on. Susanna is okay.

WeArePregnant11 · 09/10/2016 22:18

Flora is the best, imo. It would be my top pick if it wasn't DSis' name...

The meaning is lovely, it's a pretty international name and there is the Flora MacDonald connection... and I love how it sounds :)!

Manumission · 09/10/2016 22:22

What if the surname is Black or Brown? Those would rule out flower names altogether maybe?

Daisy White is nice though Smile

WeArePregnant11 · 09/10/2016 22:27

Manumission Lavender Brown? Smile
But seriously, HP names aside, I don't get why Daisy Brown, Fleur Black or Flora Green would be an issue... They sound lovely imo.

I'm genuinely curious, especially because my DW and I are also name hunting.

redheadbarmaid · 09/10/2016 22:28

Agree fleur a beautiful name but sounds not so beautiful in certain accents (my Scottish one included)
Absolutely love flora though. Others are just ok imo

Manumission · 09/10/2016 22:30

Lavender Brown always grated on me as a name WeAre 😄

nennyrainbow · 09/10/2016 22:31

Depends if you want a common name on or not. Daisy is pretty but there seems to be one in every class at primary school. The other names are less commonly heard.

n0ne · 09/10/2016 22:36

Love Fleur and Manon, but if your surname is one syllable, maybe Fleur is a bit choppy with it?

VilootShesCute · 09/10/2016 22:36

Fleur definitely. Love that name.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 09/10/2016 22:50

It depends on your accent!

Some accents (broad brummy being one of them) don't pronounce Fleur very well. H has a cousin called Fleur. I will always remember the way some of his family members called her "Fleurgggghhhhhhhh".

From your list, my favourite would be Daisy. But maybe not if your surname is White? It might sound a bit like a Dulux shade.

Elizalou01 · 09/10/2016 22:52

Thanks for the comments. It's not Green though I did have a relation called Daisy Green :)

I'm slightly worried people may shorten Susanna to Sue which I loathe.

DH likes Flora but to me it's what my maiden aunts were called and I think of margarine or Flora Dora girls

I still like Fleur and so does my mum but hadn't thought of the Northern thing.

One of my other favourites is Xanthe but DH dislikes.

Yes Paperdoll! Fleur sound like a mix of bleugh and phlegm
