What are your favourite ones? Boy or girl. Anything out of the top few hundred names. Smile

I'm looking for inspiration! My name tastes run to most things, particularly love anything Italian, pretty girls names, anything nature related or strong boys names. TIA!

I floated the name Hester on this board when I was pregnant a few months ago, and it was almost universally panned! My husband wasn't keen, so we didn't use it in the end; but it's still one of my favourites. My daughter did end up with one of the names mentioned on this thread though.

Some of my other favourite uncommon (for babies in England & Wales) names:

Tamsin
Clarice
Myrtle
Lorna
Sorrel
Celeste
Demelza
Elara
Simone
Damaris
Nyx
Jessamine
Cecile

Emrys
Quentin
Griffin
Edgar
Tobin
Leopold
Digory
Phineas
Tarquin

Oh, and Eris. Although she was the goddess of discord and strife, so perhaps not the best namesake!

dropaheartbreakaname · 11/10/2016 23:10

Heard a little boy being called Cassius the other day. Love it!

MissisBee · 12/10/2016 22:26

Merlin and Aurora

RattieOfCatan · 13/10/2016 03:40

Artemis and Minerva. They are our two girls names and I must admit I am leaning towards wanting a girl purely so that I can use one! (37 weeks pregnant so not long till I find out!)
Boys names: Caspar, Caspian & Dara, though can't use any of them :(

Love Amyas. In the old song, you and I and Amyas go to the green wood..

Mika is my favourite girl name. Flowers

GinAndTunic · 14/10/2016 12:19

Demeter and Thibault.

I also love Calypso, as someone else suggested.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/10/2016 12:30

Gin, forgive my ignorance, how do you pronounce Thibault ?

GinAndTunic · 14/10/2016 12:39

It's not ignorance at all! It's an unusual French name.

It's pronounced Tee-bow.

GinAndTunic · 14/10/2016 12:41

To clarify: bow to rhyme with 'dough', not 'ow'.
