I think it's a lovely name - Alex is a great shortening too.

However, is it boring now?

No it's lovely :)

FlappyRose · 09/10/2016 17:49

Not at all. I think it's a lovely name.

Chinlo · 09/10/2016 17:51

It's not boring, it's just classic. It's one of my favourite of the popular, traditional names.

OvO · 09/10/2016 17:56

HOW DARE YOU EVEN SUGGEST SUCH A THING.

Wink

It's the best boys name ever. Grin

Losgunna · 09/10/2016 17:58

No it's really nice. I wanted it for DS but a friend has an Alexander already and he is by a country mile the sweetest, loveliest most thoughtful little boy I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He's an absolute joy to be around. He is six and I wish he was mine! this may have coloured my view

Giratina · 09/10/2016 17:59

No it's not boring it's lovely and you can shorten it to Alex, Sandy or Xander if he wants when he's older.

LC01 · 09/10/2016 18:00

Love it.

EllenDegenerate · 09/10/2016 18:00

No

fisharefriendsnotfood · 09/10/2016 18:00

I have an Alexander and it's a fab name. Classic but not common

Queasyrider · 09/10/2016 18:00

No. I love it just as much as I did when I named DS1 Alexander 11 years ago. He's Alex to everyone.

DramaAlpaca · 09/10/2016 18:40

No, it's a good name.

Ohdofuckoffplease · 09/10/2016 18:43

No it's lovely! Not boring at all. I really like Alex as a shortening too. Not massively keen on Sandy or Xander but they aren't terrible either.

WhatwouldRuthdo · 09/10/2016 18:46

It's a great name . And although it's fairly popular, we don't come across that many others here.

areyoubeingserviced · 09/10/2016 18:47

One of my favourite names for a boy

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/10/2016 18:47

Not boring!

TheRadiantAerynSun · 09/10/2016 18:48

Well, I may be biased because I have one and in my family it's part of a strong naming tradition (we have lots of Alexs)

I think it's the perfect name. Flexible, classic, lots of NN options, popular without being trendy.

Not at all boring.

MotherDuckSaid · 09/10/2016 19:01

i really like it :)

WaitrosePigeon · 09/10/2016 19:13

There's nothing wrong with it, but I find it boring.

sugarplumfairy28 · 09/10/2016 19:26

It's not offensive in any way whatsoever, but I personally find it it a little too common and pedestrian now days.

WeArePregnant11 · 09/10/2016 19:29

It's perfect :)

I prefer the nn Alec, but Alex is also lovely.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/10/2016 19:34

Absolutely not boring.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/10/2016 19:35

I love Alec too.

Shockers · 09/10/2016 19:37

The two I know, Alex and Alekss, are both gorgeous, sparky little boys!

Notmoreantihistamines · 09/10/2016 19:42

Lovely name, not boring, and I am not biased as I dont have an Alex. We nearly used as a middle name but as initials made an unfortunate acronym.

museumum · 09/10/2016 19:44

I like it but prefer sandy or xander as shortenings.
