Phoenix or Griffin?

Our son has been here a week, but we still can't pick between these 2.

Which one do you prefer? Smile

We have a daughter named Harmony.

We know our liked names aren't to everyone's tastes, but oh well!

Griffin, congrats OP 💐

HoratioNightboy · 09/10/2016 17:22

Griffin makes me think of the BNP guy, so far that alone I'd opt for Phoenix.

SpotTheDuck · 09/10/2016 17:24

Griffin is lovely, and goes well with harmony

Ohdofuckoffplease · 09/10/2016 18:49

I know a Gryffith and prefer that. But love Griff as an abbreviation either way.

Luciferbox · 09/10/2016 19:03

I have a Griff (shortened version of his very Welsh name) and it's an awesome name. Obviously I'm bias but go for Griffin/Griff.

pinkblink · 09/10/2016 19:06

Phoenix was going to be our youngest sons middle name but we decided on Flynn

UncleHerbie · 09/10/2016 19:09

I know of a 12 yo girl called Phoenix and she's delightful

Chinlo · 09/10/2016 19:20

To me, Griffin is a boy's name, Phoenix is girl's

FWIW, there have been more boys named Phoenix than girls in all of the last 20 years, according to the ONS data. So it's probably unisex but definitely more commonly used for boys in the UK.

sugarplumfairy28 · 09/10/2016 19:29

Phoenix out of the two.

Honeybee79 · 09/10/2016 19:49

As you said OP, they're not to everyone's taste, including mine. However, I would go for Griffin. Griff for short is good.

Batteriesallgone · 09/10/2016 19:49

lights Falcon is an awesome name

WeArePregnant11 · 09/10/2016 22:34

Griffin is lovely :)

sonlypuppyfat · 09/10/2016 22:41

I teach an absolutely lovely Griffin (not shortened to Griff fwiw) so that's my choice!

Izzyathome · 10/10/2016 06:26

Love Griff.

Pinklily1 · 10/10/2016 08:13

Definitely Griffin. Griff is cute!

Strokethefurrywall · 10/10/2016 15:25

Definitely Griffin - its top of the list for my mythical 3rd boy!

Congratulations!

Obsidian77 · 10/10/2016 21:04

I know a boy called Phoenix (his mum loves River Phoenix) and he's a very cool kid. I think it would work with your DD's name. Congrats.

RiverTam · 10/10/2016 21:05

Phoenix. Griffin makes me think of Nick Griffin.

minipie · 11/10/2016 10:37

Love Griffin (people will soon forget Nick Griffin)

Phoenix is a bit much for me.

Konyaa · 11/10/2016 10:44

The only two other griffins I can think of are a I presume banned fascist right wing leader by the name of Nick and an oafish weirdo loveable weirdo from Family Guy by the name of peter. But go ahead with it. Perhaps harmony will prevail.
