Brother to Winter?

We have a daughter named Winter - she goes by Winnie.

We are expecting a son.

We absolutely love Robin. We are keen on the NN Bobby. We don't like Robert Sad but it's just too much of a theme, isn't it?

Shame that Summer is a girl's name, but you could go with August (assuming you're in the northern hemisphere Grin) - it's pretty trendy right now!

GoNorthDarren · 20/09/2016 19:02

I think it's fine tbh. It's a bit of a theme yes, but it's not obvious enough to be tacky imo. If you refer to them as Winny and Bobby no one will ever make the connection anyway.

SunnyInMay · 20/09/2016 19:02

Why not just go with Bobby then?

Thundercake · 20/09/2016 19:03

What about Billy, or Noah?

Snowwy · 20/09/2016 19:04

Because I think it's very 'little boy' and I like it with Robin as his full name!

Winnie and Bobby go well.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/09/2016 19:05

I don't think Robins are called Bobby, so it's a bit of a stretch imo.

olderthanyouthink · 20/09/2016 19:05

John (snow)... I'll show my self out Blush

Snowwy · 20/09/2016 19:06

I like Billy, but think William and Winter are a bit similar! Noah is great too, but I'm a massive fan of NNs!

I'm glad Winnie and Bobby doesn't seem like too much of an issue!

Through - it's no different to Robert being a Bobby?

Jon not john (ok I'm gone )

ViolettaValery · 20/09/2016 19:09

If those are the names you love, use them. They'll have their whole adult lives not living together as siblings. The choice is between maybe having one or two people twig and ask about it, or not using the name you really want.

Just don't have another girl and call her Carol!

ViolettaValery · 20/09/2016 19:10

Or Holly or Noel!

amysmummy12345 · 20/09/2016 19:11

Oak?

daisydalrymple · 20/09/2016 19:12

I had an uncle Bobby. He was a Robin.

ZenNudist · 20/09/2016 19:15

I'd spare them the cheesy jokes if o were you.

How about:

Rowan (my fave)
Brook
Lake
Leo
Ash

Fox
Briar
Ember
Linden
River

strawberrypenguin · 20/09/2016 19:16

Winnie and Bobby sound fine to me and I think Robin works fine.

If you want a daft suggestion then Winter and Thor have a nice ring Smile

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 20/09/2016 19:18

Is it the Winter/Robin thing you're worried about? If they generally go by their nicknames then most people won't ever make the connection.

Robin's a lovely name, if that's what you've got your heart set on then use it.

Wallace
Wulfric
Christian
Rogan

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 21/09/2016 08:27

Bobby as a full name would be a horrible thing to do to a child & I agree Robert is awful. Bobby as a short for Robin is fine though.

eightbluebirds · 21/09/2016 08:29

I like Rowan

Foxtato · 21/09/2016 08:37

I like Rowan, too.. I think it goes well with Winter.

3Eggses · 21/09/2016 08:38

Sometimes I feel like I've fallen down a rabbit hole...

Wulfric & Lake are offered as valid suggestions yet Robert is deemed awful?! ShockConfused

I like Robin OP. I don't like Bobby or Bob.

DavidPuddy · 21/09/2016 08:53
