Brother to Winter?

We have a daughter named Winter - she goes by Winnie.

We are expecting a son.

We absolutely love Robin. We are keen on the NN Bobby. We don't like Robert Sad but it's just too much of a theme, isn't it?

I thought the theme was Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 21/09/2016 09:34

Ha ha 3Eggses, 😂😂
I also like and prefer Robert.
You just never can tell, on Mumsnet !

I know a Bobby who is really called Robin. It makes me laught that people think Winter and Robin are cheesy but suggest things like 'Lake' - who in the world is called Lake?!

Robin is lovely. Use that.

mogloveseggs · 21/09/2016 09:42

Robin is nice. And they're your children, if you choose to have Bobby as a nickname it's none of anyone's business.

I think Robin is fine, and I have come across Bob as a nn for Robin (although this was further shortened to Bo).

Only1scoop · 21/09/2016 09:52

Winter and Robin
No

Pipilangstrumpf · 21/09/2016 15:10

I like Robin and it I don't see a problem with Rob/Robin and Winnie at all.

MidnightVelvettheSixth · 21/09/2016 15:20

Loving your user name to complete the theme!

Robin nn Bobby is fine with Winter :) I know 2, both a male Robin & a female Robyn, so not too popular round here

TempsPerdu · 21/09/2016 15:45

I'm not one for themes usually, but I really like Winter and Robin together - helps that Robin happens to be one of my favourite boy's names! I say go for it.

Ontopofthesunset · 21/09/2016 17:11

I suppose Robin isn't usually shortened to Bob because it is already, traditionally, a diminutive of Robert, just a different diminutive. I really like Robin but don't like Bobby as a diminutive of it.

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 21/09/2016 18:00

Wulfric & Lake are offered as valid suggestions yet Robert is deemed awful?!

I wasn't offering Wulfric & Lake though! I just don't like names like Robert, Albert & so on, for me -bert is a really ugly sound. Not for plenty of other people, of course.

50shadesofknackered · 22/09/2016 20:08

I love the name Winter and Winnie for short, I think it's just beautiful. I don't like the name Robin tbh but only because I don't like the name. Not that it matters what anyone else thinks, if you love the name then use it.

50shadesofknackered · 22/09/2016 20:09

I forgot to say that I do think Bobby is a very cute nickname.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/09/2016 20:34

Why the hell would you call your child Fox or Lake?? These are children, not nature trail artefacts!

I love Robin.

I don't think people IRL would particularly notice (or care) about the slight link between Winter and Robin, particularly not if you see using diminutives.

Lovely names!

Robert is a lovely name. Robin is OK. Bobby not my favourite.

FindingNemoFindingDory · 28/09/2016 14:30

Go for Robin (Bobby) it goes very well Smile

NotSpartacus · 28/09/2016 14:40

Does it not make other people think of Winnie the Pooh (and Christopher Robin?). Not that that's any reason to not use those names (I think Robin is fine, very sweet really) but did no one else make that connection?

FindingNemoFindingDory · 28/09/2016 14:42

Someone did, Not! Smile
