As a child's name? No it's awful Grin

RiverTam · 15/09/2016 15:40

I wouldn't myself.

CourtJester · 15/09/2016 15:46

It's a cat

originalmavis · 15/09/2016 15:49

Sounds like a character from a 70s American cop show. She is friends with Sherry, Brandi and Candy.

BitOutOfPractice · 15/09/2016 15:50

Well Ginger Rogers was verrrrrrry cool

I wouldn't though, partly because if the cat name thing, partly because of the cockney rhyming slang thing, and partly because it's just a bit too quirky for me

sonlypuppyfat · 15/09/2016 15:50

It's a cats name, what are you thinking

villainousbroodmare · 15/09/2016 15:51

It's a nickname.

I'm going against the grain here

I quite like it for a girl.
but I'm 25weeks pg so probably crazy

WeatherShine · 15/09/2016 15:53

It's my hormones, I tell ya! Grin I just thought it sounded pretty, but mysterious.

OP posts:
originalmavis · 15/09/2016 15:53

Ginger Rogers wasnt christened ginger though.

originalmavis · 15/09/2016 15:54

Hmmmmm. spice girl.

LineyReborn · 15/09/2016 15:57

Pretty but mysterious is many things but not that.

Mybeardeddragonjustdied2016 · 15/09/2016 15:58

We had a chicken called Ginger!!

HandmaidsTail · 15/09/2016 15:58

Sounds a bit Strippery.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 15/09/2016 16:01

'Ginger' Rogers was actually named Virginia.

mustthinkofabetterusername · 15/09/2016 16:08

I'm usually an extremely diplomatic poster, would dress answers up in cotton wool, but there are some questions that require a more direct approach and I'm afraid this is one of them!!!!!.......

PLEASE do not call any child Ginger. It rhymes with certain lady parts, it's a pet's name, it's a derogatory term (sorry to the redheads, but yes, it is usually used in an unkind manner) and many, many other reasons.

No. PLEASE. No.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/09/2016 17:49

It is indeed a derogatory term, just ask my Son !
No insult is complete, without the word "ginger", thrown in.
How about "Red", or Redmond.
For a girl,
Scarlett
Ruby
Cherry
Rose
OP, please, not Ginger !

ErrolTheDragon · 15/09/2016 17:52

I had a cat called Ginger.

Honeybee79 · 15/09/2016 20:58

I wouldn't. Makes me think of the character Ginger in Casino.

katemess12 · 15/09/2016 21:41

Ginger Rogers was cool, but the name is not.

Sorry!

ToadsJustFellFromTheSky · 15/09/2016 23:15

Awful.

sycamore54321 · 16/09/2016 00:45

My first thought is the big ugly misshapen spice (tastes lovely though). So, eh, not a good image.

Lunar1 · 16/09/2016 00:54

If you have twins the other could be garlic.

Ellieboolou27 · 16/09/2016 00:57

Nut, well you would be if you called your baby ginger Grin
