The thing is, I have a theory about all these 'quirky' names. I reckon that parents who favour the unconventional and quirky are quite likely to produce offspring who are also unconventional and quirky and who will have the personality to carry off their unusual name with aplomb!

At nursery, no-one will be able to imagine little Ginger being called anything else!

Ginger Rogers was really called Virginia. Because no sane person would call a baby Ginger.

I presume you are joking?

What body part does Ginger rhyme with??

Op Jinger??

GinIsIn · 16/09/2016 08:43

As someone of a red headed persuasion, please no! It is used as a derogatory term unfortunately so is akin to calling your baby 'Fatty' or 'Four Eyes'!

Sorry but no no no

Absolutely LOVE it. I wanted to change my name to Ginger for quite a few years and still think about it now. It's lovely, Ginger is a gorgeous hair colour, a warm spice. Very sassy.

It's cockney rhyming slang for homosexual. "Ginger beer" commonly just used as ginger. Very derogatory and unpleasant.
