Does Harvie look wrong ?

Thinking of names for our DS. We like the Harvey spelling but it looks really bad with our surname, which also ends in 'Vey'. It just looks too much. Was wondering if the ie spelling is acceptable, as it looks much better with our name than the ey spelling.

Very few English boys names end in ie so I would wonder if Harvie was a girl if I saw it written down. Like with Billie.

Ah that's a shame as it was my favourite name. Looks like he'll be called Louis instead.

If you mean that the surname is pronounced differently to Harvey/Harvie, (something like McVey, for example), then why not just use Harvey? No huge issue in my opinion.

Louis has the pronunciation issue, with many saying Lou-is and others saying the French form Lou-ee. That may bother you?

If your surname ending isn't pronounced the same as vey at the end of Harvey I don't see the issue - spelling it Harvie is weird, but there's no reason not to use the standard spelling

Do you mean your surname hasn't got the 'vy' sound at the end but more of an 'ay' sound?
If so, I'd just spell it Harvey!

Agree that Harvey McVey is cool. And Louis (as in Theroux) is a great name, less keen on Lewis pronunciation.

McVey is my surname I just thought it looked too much with Harvey.

Louis pronounced Lou-ee. I don't really like the Louie spelling, so I'd just correct people if they pronounced it wrong.

Yes our surname has the Ay sound, so maybe it wouldn't be much of a problem. I'm probably just being fussy.

Harvey McVey is a really cool name!!

My little cousin (who's now 14... Eek) is a Harvey. We used to call him Maria, as in Ave Maria. It's a name that always makes me smile. Go for it!
