Does Harvie look wrong ?

Thinking of names for our DS. We like the Harvey spelling but it looks really bad with our surname, which also ends in 'Vey'. It just looks too much. Was wondering if the ie spelling is acceptable, as it looks much better with our name than the ey spelling.

Really love the name and don't want to change it Sad

Now you've said tour surname it sounds fine tbh. Love Louis (loo-ee) too

chinlo · 15/09/2016 14:12

What a guess!! Sorry if I outed you, haha!

Just go with Harvey then.

chinlo · 15/09/2016 14:13

Louis McVey does sound cool too though.

I think you have a good surname for lots of names actually.

Jessica0107 · 15/09/2016 14:13

I thought someone might guess it as not many names end it 'vey' haha never mind Grin

Well I'm glad it looks fine to everyone else, maybe I shouldn't worry too much and just go with HarveySmile

Harvey McVey is a really cool name!!

My little cousin (who's now 14... Eek) is a Harvey. We used to call him Maria, as in Ave Maria. It's a name that always makes me smile. Go for it!

midsomermurderess · 15/09/2016 14:32

Yes, illiterate.

MitzyLeFrouf · 15/09/2016 15:14

Harvey McVey sounds great and looks much better than Harvie McVey! I like the matching 'vey'.

Louis McVey is a good name too.

Basically, McVey is a good name to work with! Grin

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 15/09/2016 15:24

Harvie keeps autocorrecting to Barbie on my phone! Harvey doesn't autocorrect, so my phone definitely prefers Harvey Grin.

Wanted to say Harvey McVey looks so much better than Harvie McVey. Louis is nice too though.

HoratioNightboy · 15/09/2016 15:34

Harvie is the Scottish spelling of Harvey so not unusual here. As you also have a Scottish surname then they'd go together well, however the Harvey spelling is also fine.

Louis is good too, your surname works well with many names!

BBQueen · 15/09/2016 15:43

Marvin McVey would be an ace name if you're looking for alternatives.

MitzyLeFrouf · 15/09/2016 15:45

He'd have to be a Private Eye wouldn't he?

CalmYaTits · 15/09/2016 16:12

I prefer Harv13Â¥

Vv unique Wink

Harvie is a girl's name, as are names ending in -leigh - I've heard of two boys recently called Harleigh.
Harlie apparently means meadow of the hares and is the female version of Harvey Harlie is old English.

SlinkyB · 15/09/2016 16:26

Don't like Harvie at all.

Harvey McVey is great!

I know someone who has a Reuben Ben and think it's strange as it goes ben-ben, but hey.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/09/2016 17:44

Harvey McVey is a fab name, and looks good on paper, it really does OP.
Louis McVey is cool too.

perrita · 15/09/2016 17:46

I'd just use Harvey if it's your favourite, I think with your surname and it being pronounced differently there'd be no issue, it's a nice name!

katemess12 · 15/09/2016 21:47

I like Harvey McVey.

Very cool. Smile

Dontrocktheboat · 15/09/2016 21:57

Harvey McVey is fine and possibly quite cool!

Jamie Oliver just called his baby River (River Oliver - much worse on the repetitive endings front!)

pieceofpurplesky · 15/09/2016 22:04

Harvey McVey is fab.
Harvey Garvey would not be Wink

And great when he is at school as teacher can use his awesome name to teach pronunciation

Jessica0107 · 15/09/2016 22:51

Thanks for all the positive replies, made me feel much better about it and I definitely love the name and spelling even more nowSmileI suppose it is quite coolGrinGrin

It would look weird if you had HarVey McVey but Harvey McVey isn't obviously similar to look at and sounds great! Harvie looks wrong.

squoosh · 16/09/2016 22:44

Harvey McVey is fab!
