What is your first impression? Other than Vauxhall? What kind of parent would use the name do you think?

PurpleDaisies · 12/09/2016 20:41

I'm afraid my first impression is the car.

I don't like it at all. I would guess a "crunchy" mum might use this sort of name.

OhFuds · 12/09/2016 20:42

Reminds me of Teen Mom on MTV.

crje · 12/09/2016 20:45

American mom
Not keen on it.

Loyly · 12/09/2016 20:45

I don't like it. I've only once heard of a 'Nova', I think - one of the babies on MTV's reality show Teen Mom.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 12/09/2016 20:46

Teen Mom has a Nova, I believe.

I thought of that, and then the car. No real opinion on who would name their child that... I'm not sure you can judge anyone on the names of their children!

FreezerBird · 12/09/2016 20:47

I have a good friend called Nova, she'd be 40ish.

So she's my first impression - ferociously intelligent, hilarious and a very accomplished surfer.

skyyequake · 12/09/2016 20:49

I think its nice Smile

The only assumption I would be making about you is that you're not keen on conventional names Grin

(I've never watched Teen Mom)

Ginger4justice · 12/09/2016 20:53

My first impression is that it's a superhero I'd be surprised if he doesn't pop up in a film soon, they are cycling through the characters fairly quickly.

Seekingmiracles · 12/09/2016 20:58

I can't believe how many people watch Teen Mom!!
I really like the name but can't get past the car.

softboiledeggs · 12/09/2016 21:10

I really like it, it's hard to find a name with no other associations...actually it's probably impossible either bad or good.

Honeybee79 · 12/09/2016 21:22

I would think of the car first!

Drquin · 12/09/2016 21:31

I remember a Marketing lecturer telling us about the importance of understanding the meaning of names in other languages, if it's an international product. She said "Nova" can be roughly interpreted as "doesn't go" in French (and probably others). Which, for a car, isn't such a great line!

Hence why UK Novas became Corsas eventually .........

Because I'm so used to hearing it in relation to cars, I'd tend not to think of "Nova" as a person's name.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 12/09/2016 21:36

I've only ever met one and she's lovely .
The only other one I've heard of is teen mom but I don't associate it with Americams.

AngharadTheSplendid · 13/09/2016 00:28

What about Neva?

Natalia Vodianova has one... I think it means Snow?

AlmaMartyr · 13/09/2016 00:37

I know an adult Nova and she is awesome. I'd go for it.

PaperdollCartoon · 13/09/2016 00:40

I like it. I knew sisters once called Aura and Mars and this fits in with that. Though Nova is also mine and DPs future dogs name.

user1471734618 · 13/09/2016 00:44

I used to look after a horse called Nova - cannot really move on from that. If you like it, use it.

FairyAccess · 13/09/2016 00:45

I quite it. I though of a SuperNova not the car or anything else.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 13/09/2016 00:46

My first thought was the female lurve of Scooby Doo in Crystal Cove.

tararabumdeay · 13/09/2016 00:48

The name of a distant cousin who was a stunning baby and became an extremely clever woman. She'll be about 40 now.

BlossomHillOne · 13/09/2016 02:13

It is the name of an inter-uterine coil.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 13/09/2016 02:22

It was Spanish not French.

Please no.

ABCFamily · 13/09/2016 02:23

It's my dog's name, so I think of her first.

Her and the other four-legged Nova that we regularly meet in the park.

scrivette · 13/09/2016 03:15

I immediately thought 'won't go'

meltedbrieonmyknee · 13/09/2016 03:17

It's a well known radio station in Australia
