DP and I have such different naming styles!

We are having a boy, we have no names that we agree on.

I like classics, Thomas is my top contender.

DP likes more out there names, his favourites are Atlas, and Greek mythology names.

Does anyone have any suggestions that meet in the middle? We are vetoing everything the other likes and cannot come to a compromise!

Hector? Jason? Alexander? Trying to get my head round 'meet in the middle'!

Blueberry234 · 10/09/2016 20:00

Much empathy I liked traditional, normal names edging on the slightly unusual (Otis) DH suggested names that would do well in business ....... Paul, Graham, Barry, Neil

ChozzleopsTheThird · 10/09/2016 20:20

Exactly how do you meet in the middle of traditional and mythical!

We are having the exact same problem! I really don't want to end up with a name we both "don't mind too much" because the names we both love are unacceptable to the other! Or I'm praying for a girl which we are finding easier to agree upon!

Serenity05 · 10/09/2016 21:30

Not sure where the middle is between Thomas and Atlas but maybe Arthur? Tristan? Felix?

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 10/09/2016 21:46

I was about to suggest Alexander but a pp has beaten me to it!

How about..?:

Basil
Christan
Christopher
Dorian
Eli
Ivan
Milo
Otis
Theodore

Doilooklikeatourist · 10/09/2016 21:50

Trystan
Lysander
Hector
Romeo
Maximus/ Maximillian

multivac · 10/09/2016 21:53

Percy, of course!

Heirhelp · 10/09/2016 21:55

Suggest you give baby a Greek middle name. Or even better say let's wait until baby arrives and see what he looks like. After seeing you give birth DH should agree to anything you suggest.

GingerbreadGingerbread · 10/09/2016 22:04

Percy is a brilliant name!

GingerbreadGingerbread · 10/09/2016 22:05

Each of you write down 10 names you love, go through each other's lists and choose your favourite three. Put the top six together and work from there.

FunionShmings · 10/09/2016 22:12
  • Jason
  • Hector
  • Troy
  • Tristan
JollyHockeyGits · 10/09/2016 22:21

How about old testament names?

squoosh · 10/09/2016 22:24

The only solution is to outsource the naming of your child.

squoosh · 10/09/2016 22:25

But not to people who think Percy is a good name.

Maximus I like, he loves Hector. I like names you can shorten though... So what could Hector be shortened to?

Percy is adorable, but for a cat. Same with Felix.

We have looked through every name in the books so any suggestion is welcomed!

Me and dp have the same issue. Only I'm not pregnant so it's purely hypothetical 😀
I like the suggestion of writing your top 10 each and narrowing it down.

ChozzleopsTheThird · 10/09/2016 23:36

Theodore is on my list but DP hates it. His latest suggestion is Floky (not sure of the spelling)

OP posts:
gaggiagirl · 10/09/2016 23:40

Floki, it's a Scandinavian name. The unhinged eyeliner wearing dude in vikings is called Floki.

puckercup · 10/09/2016 23:43

Tell your OH that he has terrible taste in names.

Maybe it'll have more impact coming from a stranger on the internet. Grin

squoosh · 11/09/2016 00:03

Floky. Well, that's um, certainly a bit................different.

ChozzleopsTheThird · 11/09/2016 07:44

Aha no sadly hearing it from a stranger would make him more adamant. He's a stubborn one. I just want us both to love it Confused and I want our child not to get bullied! And he gets so offended when I say they're ridiculous names Hmm
