What are everyone's thought on the name Felix? As per previous threads we are having a little brother to Theodore (Ted/Teddy) so looking for a name that compliments his. Tobias had been top runner for a while, but I've realised I'm not going to get over the 'twee' factor of Teddy and Toby.

We are now really considering Felix, I absolutely love the sound of the name and it's meaning. Cat connection doesn't really bother me. Just wondering tonight if it would sound a bit dated in a few years? I know it's a biblical name but not sure if it's going to go the same way as Oscar / Archie etc. Also does it still sound right on an adult? We have lived in Germany for the last four years so I'm not sure if I'm being influenced by the naming trends here and I'll regret it when we move back to the UK later this year.

Sorry for the ramble! Only other real consideration is Arthur. Thanks all!

I love it

WellErrr · 02/09/2016 19:39

Love it.

Randytortoise · 02/09/2016 19:40

I love it and it's quite popular. I had 2 in my class last year and 1 in it this year (in a small school.)

ApocalypseSlough · 02/09/2016 19:41

Love it!

I love it. I wanted it for our DS but OH vetoed it :(

I think it suits children and adults alike. And it's not overly popular at all - it's something like 95th in the UK top 100.

CyrilSneer30 · 02/09/2016 19:59

Brilliant, thank you ladies! I was hoping for that kind of response Smile

Randy I can't believe it was so popular in your school! I'm not overly concerned about popularity as such, just wanted to make sure it doesn't seem to be part of a trend of faddy names that will sound really dated soon.

I absolutely LOVE Otto but DH will not budge on it, he refused to even let me use it for the dog! Angry

We also have an otto to, how strange!

princessdave · 02/09/2016 20:44

I have a 2 year old Felix! Named after the lead singer of our favourite Australian band so I'm biased in saying I really like it. It's been received very well by friends & family alike. Never met another one other than a Dad at nursery Smile

Works with Theodore IMO. Congratulations & good luck!

Sandsnake · 02/09/2016 20:48

I really like it.

FinnegansCake · 02/09/2016 20:50

Great name, I knew an absolutely lovely Felix, suited him so well - a kind, gentle, very cultured giant of a man.

JennyOnAPlate · 02/09/2016 21:00

Cat food. Sorry.

QueenLizIII · 02/09/2016 21:26

I think its cute

skankingpiglet · 02/09/2016 21:31

I'd like it if it wasn't for that cat... Nice name but every time I hear it The Entertainer starts playing in my head.

I have a friend who has long had this name picked out and is very territorial about it. When I was pregnant with my now DD1, she even went so far as to tell me I couldn't use it if we had a boy! I politely reassured her she needn't worry, it wasn't on the shortlist Grin

Sophronia · 02/09/2016 22:16

I prefer Arthur, it seems stronger. Felix is a bit 'wet'

sparechange · 02/09/2016 22:19

It's becoming overly popular around me. It will be top 10 within a few years...

Squabblesallaround · 02/09/2016 22:21

Love it. No a 30 year old Felix who is really cool so I think it ages well too - on him at least Smile

Squabblesallaround · 02/09/2016 22:21

*know

CakeRattleandRoll · 03/09/2016 05:59

Love it. And I think it goes well with Teddy. I like Arthur too, but Felix would be my choice of the two.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/09/2016 07:46

Yes, yes, yes, fab name !

SanityClause · 03/09/2016 07:51

I love it. We considered it for DS, but it's a bit too similar to one of our other DC's names, so we didn't use it.

I prefer it to Arthur.

Evergreen17 · 03/09/2016 08:00

My grandad was Felix Smile

Evergreen17 · 03/09/2016 08:01

And as children we would often misspell it as Feliz, which is rather cute as it means Happy SmileSmileSmile

villainousbroodmare · 03/09/2016 08:05

I much prefer Arthur.

TheForeignOffice · 03/09/2016 08:13

It's fantastic. Totally classic and travels well. Happy and lucky...what more could you wish for your son?

I also like Otto.

MrsGsnow18 · 03/09/2016 22:53

I do like the name Felix but it seems to be very popular ( especially on MN and on these name threads) and becoming increasingly more popular.
Otto is a great name!
