What are your thoughts? Don't know what I think and if it'll work. We already have 2 dds. Any other options would be appreciated a lot, I like Finn but am stuck! Thanks X

Finn is much better.

user1471734618 · 24/08/2016 22:58

said like Kyooba?
I think it would sound really silly tbh.
Some Polish boys are called Kuba, short for Jakub, but it is said like KOOBA

Mausageandsash · 24/08/2016 22:59

Do you think crisp, I prefer Finn but DH isn't that keen and loves Cuba which I quite like!

It's ridiculous.

And not a name.

Only1scoop · 24/08/2016 23:00

It's awful

NotTodaySatan · 24/08/2016 23:00

Wut?

I'm really struggling to see how any person or couple (even with differing tastes) could end up in a showdown between Cuba (????) and Finn.

Finn.

Mausageandsash · 24/08/2016 23:01

Yes user like the country. Surprisingly in central London where we live it's popular (there's one in each of the dds nursery/school class) so I thought that people wouldn't find it silly IYSWIM! X

What about Israel or Jordan if you like names inspired by countries?

Cuba is cute, and Cuba Gooding Jr is a good association for me. I think a lot depends on your surname.

99percentchocolate · 24/08/2016 23:02

I love it. I know someone with a Cuba and whilst it wasn't a name I would have personally chosen before I met this little boy, I think it really suits him and it's really grown on me.

peppercold · 24/08/2016 23:03

Will his surname be Cheese? (sorry)

WaitrosePigeon · 24/08/2016 23:04

Pepper Grin

And no, it's dreadful. Please don't.

ExitPursuedByABear · 24/08/2016 23:04

Why not.

Whatever floats your boat.

Love and hugs

Zimbabwe.

SaltyMyDear · 24/08/2016 23:07

I know one. He's a brilliant child. If you like the name, go for it.

Queenbean · 24/08/2016 23:07

It's much more bloody interesting than yet another Jack or Harry so on that basis it gets a yes from me!

user1471734618 · 24/08/2016 23:10

it is true that there are a lot of Jacks and Harrys around.....but 'Cuba' - sorry it just sounds silly and pretentious. Unless eg your grandfather was Cuban...and even then it still sounds silly.
If you like country names what about Guinea-Bissau or Somalia?

Mouseinahole · 24/08/2016 23:10

There was a Cuba on that 'Secret Life of Four Year Olds' programme.
I much prefer Finn.

Mausageandsash · 24/08/2016 23:15

Seems that most people hate it but I'm glad there are some who do. The first time you hear it it is silly for some but I think it grows on people (it has for me anyway) Finn just doesn't go that well with our surname so does anyone know what alternatives there could be to Cuba apart from Bahamas, Italy etc Grin

Yes there was mouse I think it's quite an out there name..

Do you know a lot about Cuba? It has been a very oppressive dictatorship for decades, perpetuating fairly horrendous human rights violations in its own citizens. Why would you want to name a child after a place that for most people symbolises oppression?

SeashellHoarder · 25/08/2016 07:35

How about Luca?

Mausageandsash · 25/08/2016 08:21

Well I don't really think that's a concern for me as not that many people will know and I have other reasons to abandon it anyway! sycamore

Che?

KoalaDownUnder · 25/08/2016 08:30

How about:

Idris
Dario (NN Rio)
Ari
Elijah
Linus
Otis
Remy
Saul

Just trying to think of some unusual-ish short names that might be your style.

CuntWagon · 25/08/2016 08:30

Really? You really think not many people know about Cuba's history Confused

GeorgeTheThird · 25/08/2016 08:32

Ah but the whole world is not London. What if your child leaves and goes to a place where people have actual names?
