We want to name our baby girl Carvela. We have chosen this unique name as we thought of carmel, carmilla and carmela but they are common names on my side of the family which are italian. So we wanted something different.

What do you think of this name?? We have been calling her Carvela already, she is born on the 26th September!

I will have to look into the other names we chose before.

Thank you to only some of those who weren't harsh

There are loads of lovely italian names here:

Even just looking at the one starting with C there are lots of very pretty ones.

I saw the title and thought it was a new kind of prosecco, disappointed now. Slinks back away....

user1471771116 · 21/08/2016 11:23

I have looked at loads of italian names for baby girls on Internet before but nothing was quite doing it for me. But I'll keep looking

Brand of shoes Grin

Dh's grandma was Italian and her name was Oriele.....

Do you like that?

SerendipitousFoxley · 21/08/2016 20:32

I knew a little Valentina. Parents called her "Vale" (pronounced Valley) for short which is cute, or you could go for Leni.

I didn't think of shoes instantly when I read Carvela, but I know nothing about fashion! Valentina is nicer though.

ClockMakerSue · 21/08/2016 21:08

Italian similar sounding (ish) names:
Calandra
Cadanza
Carlotta
Viviana
Viviana

I like Valentina and those I know don't get it shortened to Val or Tina or Len ;-)

Barefootcontessa84 · 21/08/2016 21:09

Sorry OP but aside from shoes, I also think of carvel capsules...

user1471771116 · 21/08/2016 23:50

No idea what carvel capsules even are

OMG ahaha before I opened this I just thought - sounds like a shoe designer.

Cami12 · 23/08/2016 06:33

I really like Valentina! (But definitely not CarvelaSad)

TurquoiseDress · 23/08/2016 22:31

Brand of shoes?

No, don't do it!

WyfOfBathe · 24/08/2016 03:24

I've never heard of the shoes, but my first thought was that it sounds like "carve Ella"

I like Valentina though. You could have Carvela or even Carmela/etc as a middle name maybe?

Normandy144 · 24/08/2016 03:36

Love Valentina. Could Claudia work? Claudia Valentina? You could pronounce it the Italian way as in cloudier?

Motherfuckers · 24/08/2016 04:18

Shoes, icecream, snot capsules (karvol)
