Dammit! I was hoping everyone would say 'no problem'!! I don't even like the name Cat that much & now it means I can't use the awesome nane Kit that also sounds really good with my surname.
I was thinking that although it's obviously not ideal in the young years, once he went out into the wider world, my name is actually irrelevant?
What should I call him instead?

I don't think it's that bonkers to be honest. DP and his mum have v similar names (like Pam and Sam). I know a Kit whose full name is Christian. You could call him his full name to begin with and then he can use Kit when he's older and not always with you.

It does make me think of the popular chocolate biscuits.

Names are weird anyway ..... People often get mine and dd's name mixed up because apparently my name is a little girls name and get is a grown up name . People on here always say don't worry about sibling names as they grow up, sound figure same goes for you.

Love the name kit so do it. It's not like you're a couple so unlikely your names would be linked as much.

Oh I think it's fine. We have similar problem in that -if this baby I'm pregnant with turns out to be a boy- the short version of his name will rhyme with the short version of my name. I know that's a no-no to a lot of
people but really it's probably only going to be an issue for the early part of his childhood (he will have this name all his life and I'm hoping that at some point my child will be independent).

I think if they're both shortenings it's fine (eg Katherine / Christopher). I know an Ally and Ollie and no-one bats an eyelid.

I love weird and funky I say go for it you have my backing. Lets not forget Apple and all other weird and funky names that celebrities call their children.
