From your options probably Nancy.

But in reality, Mairi, Lorna, Kirsten or Ailsa. :)

Sophie

Cami12 · 23/06/2016 15:11

bombayflambe, my name is Catriona (circa early 80's) and my mother's friends are Fionas. Erin is nice though, although we know a few toddler Erins already.

I love Iris and Nancy.

First name that came to mind for me was Hamish & Olivia.

Maverick66 · 23/06/2016 15:21

Nancy or what about Nora?

BellaMoo · 23/06/2016 16:13

Nancy

Sophie

Jessbow · 23/06/2016 16:32

I tried saying the names, '........'these are my children Hamish and Iris'' and Iris kept slipping out as 'Irish'

What about Eilidh?

avocadosweet · 23/06/2016 18:19

Elspeth!

bombayflambe · 24/06/2016 12:58

Nancy is a diminutive of Mary though. Which may not fit with your family.

Eilidh is lovely and not overused at the moment.
Kirsty if you don't like Kerstin above.
Morag sounds great with Hamish but is perhaps too much of a statement...or perhaps not?

WankersHacksandThieves · 24/06/2016 13:29

Nancy is a diminutive of Anne I think, it doesn't have anything to do with Mary as far as I am aware.

I like Kirsty too.

Eilidhs (and Ellies etc) are ten a penny round me so I think like a lot of names they can be very regional. I know they are pronounced differently by the way but depending on the accent it isn't enough to differentiate imo.

DerelictMyBalls · 24/06/2016 15:24

Flora! Hamish and Flora. Go on.

Cami12 · 24/06/2016 23:08

If we chose Nancy it would be after my grandma whose full name was Agnes, so nothing to do with Mary. ?
Kirsty is a definite no. I do like Hamish and Flora though, thanks Derelict!

I know a Hamish and Rosie, aswell as a Hamish and Iona

LotsofDots · 25/06/2016 19:24

I have a close older relative who is a Nancy, I discovered a couple of years ago that she is actually named Agnes. I had no idea.
