We have three Nan/Nancys in the extended family: Two Mary-Anns and one a Mary-Jane, so I'd linked it to the Mary...possibly not!

Hamish and Flora is lovely. So is Hamish and Heather.

Anns were known as Nan. Anne boleyn w as referred to as "Nan Bullen" by those wishing to take her down a peg.

Any of them except for iris, although I do like that name. Like another poster implied it's almost a toungue tie saying Hamish and Iris.
