I really like them! But, the ones I can think of have to many fault, despite my love for them.

Piers - reminds me too much of Piers Morgan

Rupert - Reminds me of Rupert the bear, plus, you can only shorten it to Roo!

Any ideas?

P.S, please not Tarquin

I was being a sarcastic arse. Your last but one post suggested you had an aversion to your child having a name used by working class people. Having seen your latest update I realise I misread your tone, apologies.

carrotcakecupcake · 11/06/2016 20:27

I love the name Percy (Percival) though now DS1 is obsessed with Thomas and Friends I don't think it'll be an option if we have DS2.

Auntpodder · 11/06/2016 20:29

Rollo (and think it's lovely)

MitzyLeFrouf · 11/06/2016 20:30

Well Rollo was a king after all!

(I think his glorious reign was from 1978 - 1982)

Hobbitfeet32 · 11/06/2016 20:37

Barrington

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 11/06/2016 20:40

August/Augustine (just met the latter and knew of the former for ages)

Both go by Auggie.

I've also met an Iver.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 11/06/2016 20:43

I have a Rupert we shorten it to Ru Smile

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 11/06/2016 20:47

Herbert or Giles. or Rafe ...frightfully posh!

dementedma · 11/06/2016 20:48

I met a Caspian who was dreadfully posh.Great name. Also know a ST John and a Piers.
Poshest person of all that I know is called Paul.

Marilynsbigsister · 11/06/2016 20:54

The poshest person I ever met was called Aeneas (careful how you say that)....

although in your boots I would be more concerned about the child's father being your 'DH' as opposed to a DP...Especially if he is a 'very well off stock broker'.. Unless you are a fantastically more independently wealthy than DP and don't care that he is not your next of kin...in which case crack on with a prep school full of Jonty's, Hugo's , Christopher's (definitely not Chris) Rupert's and Giles's.

DeathByMascara · 11/06/2016 20:57

I've known a Rupert and he was known as Rupe to his friends. Rupe the Stroop to me & mine - Stroop being slang for penis, in case that needs translated!

Donatellalymanmoss · 11/06/2016 20:59

Did someone just suggest Baldrick? 😂

YorkieDorkie · 11/06/2016 21:00

Who in their right mind is calling their kid St. John Hmm?

Tiggeryoubastard · 11/06/2016 21:08

Yes but the person that mentioned Baldrick also mentioned Kenneth and Rafferty so it's safe to assume they have a sense of humour.

LetItGlow · 11/06/2016 21:25

DP and I have decided on 'Hugh' Smile

OP posts:
Tiggeryoubastard · 11/06/2016 21:39

Hugh is ace (family name).

JessieMcJessie · 11/06/2016 21:45

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Julian! I had never met one till I went to Cambridge. I had a lovely and very posh Orlando in my year.

ForHarry · 11/06/2016 22:03

I know noone posh but I like a bit of history.

One of the oldest dukedoms is that of Norfolk. Trusting to internet search engine in tbe absence of being acquainted, the current duke has name Edward and his heir is a Henry. Inspirational?

pieceofpurplesky · 11/06/2016 22:05

As long as your surname doesn't start with j/g Hugh is fine!

The Hugh Janus effect

W8woman · 11/06/2016 22:07

bendor is a grosvenor family name, pronounced 'ben dore'.

my godson is rupert. we call him 'little 'bear'. incredibly cute, but probably just as well that he's down for eton.

only the aspirational classes go in for these sorts of names by the way. really posh people call their sons 'john' or 'robert'.
