Lara or cara

Hi what do people think of these 2 names? Am drawn to the Irish connection with cara but think that Lara has a softer sound. Thanks!

Cara for me - it is such a beautiful and feminine name, would suit any age :)

Cara, Lara is lovely but inevitably people will misread it as Laura which might annoy her.

But you can't go too wrong with either.

Cara. Lara was on shortlist when dd was born 13 years ago... Still love it but Cara edges it...

Prefer Lara. Don't know why, but Cara sounds like the mean kid at school to me.

Disclaimer: I didn't ever go to school with anyone called CARA and they might all be very nice in reality!

I like Lara, Cara means face in Portuguese and expensive in Spanish. Cannot get the association out of my head, sorry.
There are alternatives like Yara/Iara too which I like.

I think Lara is a beautiful name. For some reason I've never liked the name Cara, or Clara for that matter. Not really sure why though

Lara for me. Or Clara. Sorry, Cara is not for me. The word 'Car' just dominates the whole name.

Hmmm not keen on Lara I think it sounds harsh. I would go for Clara over Cara.

Clara. Whenever I see Clara I read it as Clara anyway, and when I hear cara it sound awkward like the L is missing.

Thanks for the feedback - really interestung. For some reason Clara doesn't do it for me. I'm currently completely split between the 2!
